Every now and then I get a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen and it's so painful it completely lifts me off the chair. It doesn't happen often but when it does...OMG! I have a friend who is a nurse and she said it might be a "rumbling appendix" and when I looked it up, I had the same symptoms. But, when I talked to my doctor, she said it was just gas or pain from constipation. I'm sorry but I've never had pain "there" from constipation or gas so I'm confused. My doctor also told me that if I had appendix problems that I would have pain below my belly button also. So has anyone else ever had this problem and did you find out what it was? What should I do?

I also have heard that appendicitis starts as a general stomach ache, then gradually pain to the abdomen (near belly button), then the right lower quadrant area. I'm not a DR though, just have heard it a few times. I dont know if appendicitis pain ever starts in the lower right quadrant....all I've heard is that it gradually comes on and then localizes in the lower right quadrant. I have had gas in that area myself----the pain is sharp but generally goes away. The appendix would gradually come on. Hope this helps.
Melissa.
My body likes to make kidney stones and on several occasions I've experienced the same type of pain in that area but on the other side...since I only have one functioning kidney. "rumbling appendix" sounds to me like "silent migraines" which was just a made up term for something the doctor wasn't sure of. Change doctors and get another opinion before your pain has a chance to get worse.
