Cynthia- Has your grandmother undergone all of the testing available?  If she is being seen by a doctor, the doctor should be able to offer options, depending on the specifics of the test results.  Many times medication can be prescribed; at other times, surgery is the recommended path.  And a third possibility is that some physicians take more of a "wait and see" approach (before rushing to prescribe and/or operate), where the patient is instructed to repeat testing, at specified intervals.  So your grandmother really should continue to follow up with her doctor in regard to her condition.  If her current doctor is not meeting her needs, or providing enough adequate information, perhaps she should seek a second opinion?  Just something to consider!
