Nodes on my vocal cords

I had my deviated septum corrected and sinuses opened. They had examined my vocal cords and found a node on each vocal cord. They opted not to remove them. They addressed my acid reflux and breathing technique while singing. They felt that would correct the issue. Are they wrong? What can I do to help the situation? can ear infections, sinus infections, sinus drainage, and tooth issues cause issues with my vocal cords?

My father recently had a place removed from his face. It was found out to be cancer. I have noticed 2-3 other places on his and arm. He doesn's see the need to remove them ASAP.
