My first blog

Ok, here goes. Today is my very first blog ever, not just here on this site but anywhere! Yes, that's right I seem to be behind a little, lol.

I started the 17 Day Diet plan two weeks ago today, so I guess that puts me on day 15 now. So far I've lost 12 pounds. What I find most difficult with healthy eating is all the shopping, chopping, washing, preparing and trying to come up with new recipe ideas. That is what brought me to this website. I was doing some research on "The 17 Day Diet" and came across "The Doctors" website. So far so good, I like it. I will blog after each cycle and on days I have time or feel the need to vent, hehe.

The biggest challenge for me is that I have 3 daughters, one in grade school, one in high school and one works. And they are so diverse in their food tastes, they might as well be born in different centuries! So when I shop, cook and prepare meals, I have to be creative, and quite the multi-tasker. Oh, and did I mention I look after my 9 month old (as of tomorrow) grandson full time? So throw that into the mix and you can imagine the next sitcom in the making. Oh well, you gotta laugh is all. Sometimes life in this house is downright funny, hectic, but funny.

So that's about it for now. Feel free to comment or offer some advice, ideas or tips. I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Congratulations on your weight loss.  You should be very proud.  Try little changes to introduce your children to better food choices.  They start to catch on when they see you setting the example.

To save time. I bake about 6 chicken breasts at one time.  I can slice it for sandwiches for the kids or add a little marinara sauce or salsa.  I also try to have celery sticks on hand.  I start the day with 2 eggs with seems to carry me for quite a while.  The Yogurt also makes a great snack.

Have the kids help out with little things, so you can have some time.  Good luck.  You didn't have much on your profile as far as where you arestarting from and your goals, but I hope you blog more.  It is a great release!

Thanks annie. Mostly they do pretty good with their eating habits. Only one is particularly fussy. Of course they don't follow the diet like I do but they eat different things. Lunches are always a challenge but somehow we always seem to manage. I do tend to cook meals large enough for at least two days, or extra chicken as you mentioned. Thanks for your well wishes. And your right, I think blogging and me are going to get along just fine! :)

Welcome aboard!  Sounds like you have a very busy life!  You'll find lots of great tips from everyone here, and great recipes too.  I also cook for my two boys and husband, who are not on a diet, so I totally understand!  The good thing is they love chicken, so that helps a lot.
