About Me
I am 48 yrs old, female. I use to work in medical, as an Medical Techinician. I loved my work, but the Asthma & Allergy Specialist's office that I worked for did not have any benefits. When the Dr.'s Nanny came in and stated that a Fortune 500 company in town was hiring, I applied and got the job all within 3 weeks time. The Dr. understood and for awhile I would work on Saturday mornings at the practice giving Allergy Injections. Then I realized I did not know the patients like I use too. You must know your patients medical and medication history very well in any case, but with Allergy Injections it is very serious if you do not know all current medications of the patient. I had been working only Saturday's for a few weeks when I asked in conversation about a patient; she mentioned she had just went to her PCP the day earlier for new medication. The medication was not in her chart and it also kept her from being able to have her shots until she seen the Dr. If I did not have this conversation, I would not have known by the chart and current information. It made me realize, I was not comfortable only working Saturday's and giving allergy shots without being aware of the patients on a regular basis.
I worked in the Corporate field for 10 years. While working I had hurt my knee and was on crutches waiting to have knee surgery. In the interim, I went into the washroom to get some trifold towels to put around my bottled water and while getting the towels, one of the vendors for the company was brushing her teeth and dripping water on the marbled floor. I did not realize this.. as I was bearing down weight on my crutches to get to my water bottle on the vanity.. in the process of bear down on the crutches the water on the beige marbled floor caused me to fall and it knocked me unconscious with numerous injuries. I was taken by stretcher through the underground tunnel to 2 bldgs over to the ER room for the company. The ambulance then transported me to the closest ER at the local hospital.
It has been 3 and half years since my fall. Three rotator cuff surgeries. First one was open rotator cuff surgery and then 2 revision surgeries. I have had numerous MRI's and a MRA. I have severe vertigo and dizziness along with posttraumatic migraines. This has caused me motion sickness, BPVV, and equilibrium problems. This in turn from migraines have caused high frequency hearing loss, bilateral - dizziness, vision changes, very sensitive to light and sound amoung many other neurological problems. I have a 20% loss of the use of my shoulder due to WComp...
I can't even begin to say how Workman Compensation has hendered my care!
Try to keep positive and continue with both local Neurologist and OtoNeurologist in Chicago, Illinois.
