About Me

I found out in the past 2 years that I have PCOS.  I almost didn't make it through the birth of myson 8 years ago.  After i had his my weight went through the roof, I was always tired, I got hair growth all of over body.  I didn't know what was wrong besides the fact the I felt lazy, fat, and hairy.  I also never got my period so i was all messed up.  I went to the DR. and they refered me to the endocronologist and she ran all of the tests.  Since I waited so long to go I had abnormal cells with my pap but all came back ok in the end.  I was 217lbs with a BMI of 37.7 and my cholesterol, blood sugar, and everything else was very elevated.  She started my on 1500mg of Metformin, and I was also going to get on Yasmin and spiranolacton but my husband and I wanted to try for a second baby when I got health.  Need less to say I got a health coach, learned about nutrition, and asked the DR. about a short term perscription for Phentermine.  I had a friend loose 100 lbs with the support of Phentermine.  So I started a 6 month diet with phentermine.  I made sure I ate only healthy which my health coach told me only eat things that come from the earth (fruit, vegs, nuts, grains, meat products or by products, and water).  I made sure I  ate3 times a day no matter what since before I was eating one large meal and my body was always in starvation mode.  I took one fish oil a day, one biotin, and one multivitamin alone with the metformin and the phentermine.  I incorporated physical activity in a fun way which means going roller skating with my family, going swimming, playing hid and seek, or walking the dog.  If I thought I'm going to work out I wouldn't want to but going swimming is fun.  My biggest feat was telling myself this isn't just a 6 month diet this is a life style change so I'm going to cook what I used to make but only have a table spoon of it and fill the rest of my plate with veggies or fruit.  I had no problem with this.  When it came to sweets I would either have a bite ot a small piece of dark chocolate.  I just knew if i cut out 100% I might fail and it isn't realistic to think i will never eat ice cream or a burger again.

It is 7 months later and I have lost 60 lbs from 217 to 158 and I have another 13 lbs to go before I reach my goal of 145.  I have been off of phentermine for a month now and I'm still going strong with out it.  I never had side effects or withdrawls it just really was a stepping stong.  My pant size went from a 22 to a 7!

I feel like an entirly different person and we are looking forward to conceving a second child soon and I hope this time I can have an enjoyable pregnancy and I know I can bounce back since I have the keys to being healthy and what works best for me.

I wanted to thank the show for talking about PCOS it actuallly made me cry because I have never really heard anyone talk about it before on TV and I hope it helps other women that are going threw years of unknowing what is wrong with them.
