About Me

I am 45, widow for 4 years. I live alone with my puppy. I have 2 sons in their early twenties, One son married with a new baby, the other son away at college.

I spend a great deal of time with my job teaching others about the needs of children as I am a Early Child care Specialest.

I have several health issues with the main one being fibromyalgia. It is good to come to a web site and blog my thoughts and get the thoughts of others.

Fibromyalgia

I have had Fibromyalgia for 7 years. The pain was mild to moderate and it occured only occasionally. As time has passed the pain is much worse and the weather affects the level of pain. I am finding it harder and harder to work. Most people, I know including the Doctors, don't act as if anything is wrong and I am finding it harder to sleep when I am supposed to and be awake when...

HI Hopsingy, thank you for your comments. I  think we all should bombard our Dr.'s and Dr.'s TV untill someone starts listening to the Fibromyalgia patients. Isn't it funny how Dr.'s can give a name to a disease, diagnois us patients with it and then act like we don't exsist. It is so frustrating to sit in a Dr. office with so much pain only for him/her to treat us like we are lying or even worse to patrinize us. I am so frustrated. The meds I take all are affecting my stomach. I mostly take Tramadol, and paxil. Along with blood pressure meds. and thyroid meds. I start my day with a handful of pills and end my day with a handfull of pills. I wish my Dr. would give me Loratab, but because it is a narcotic he doesn't want me to become addicted to them. So I take 4-6 Tramadol even though script says no more than 4 a day. I have to do something. I have found hot  baths and heating pads do work just not for long. My pain is mostly in my legs and across my shoulders. Oh yea did I mention major sleep problems due to the pain. I end up awake more than asleep and we all know how that affects us. When will there be real help or at least somone to listen and believe us.

Hi Cindy, I'm glad I resemble your favorite aunt. She must have been extremely nice. My doctor's appointment went o.k.  I do have a cyst on the bladder, and right now we don't know how big. The doctor thinks that's what's been causing all that pain.  He wants me to see a gynechologist, there and have her do an ultrasound so he can see how big it is. That appointment is for March 27 th. I'm on the cancellation list, so if someone cancels an appointment, I'll get in sooner. I see the surgeon about a week after thaat and Iw'll make plans for treatment. Someone asked me if the cysts can be drained, I don't know the answer to that I didn''t know enough to ask the Surgeon.  So far it looks like the surgeon will only have to remove the cyst, not the whole bladder, and I'll use the same equipment I use now.  When I heal up from that I'll be able to have the tube changed in the doctor's office and not the hospital with a lot of anastesia. I'd love to meet you, but I can only travel just a bit. I drive a very old van 21 years old, and I never know when something major will go wrong. Where do you live? I  do liive in Ocala, Florida, the north central part of Florida. I need the van because I have a wheel-chair and lift--specially equipped so I can at least get around town. You can e-mail me at kathycollins53@yahoo.com. After you get my e-mai address please delete this message. Thanks a lot, Your friend, Kathy

My friend, Dan has his own group. He's disabled also, and sings locally. He does a lot of Gaither music, and old time Gospel music. He doesn't like contemporary music at all. There's not much money in it, lots of times he has to pull money out of his own pocket to pay for the gas. It's great that he can preach and sing, because when he introduces a song, there's a mini sermon that goes along with it and those people don't realize they've been preached at.  he's been a good friend for the past 13 years and helps me out a lot with the computer and things around the apartment, sometimes even my van. Won't be on for long, have to get up early tomorrow morning. I ride in the morning, go out to lunch with friends, and then have a doctor's appointment at 1 p.m. Thursday morning I find out the results of tests I have and see if I need surgery. Hope all is well with you, getting your sugar under control. Will try to be online tomorrow sometime.  Kathy

Cindy, if you live alone and keep only the foods you can have, it will be easier to change your eating habits. I've lost 50 lbs in 10 months, but cannot exercise or I become paralyzed ( unkool ). It's a temporary paralysis, but not fun to deal with by yourself. I think your doctor is expecting a little too much, 10 lbs a month to lose???!!! I still have 30 or 40 more lbs to lose, and even having diabetes for almost 16 years, my doctor says about the same thing. If I lose more weight, I can probably go off my diabetic meds and statin for cholesterol.  Also I'm requesting a friendship with you. O.K. ?  Kathy

I have a special friend in my life, but not really romantic. He was hurt by a very bad divorce. He's a Christian, and a non denominational minister. He goes to nursing home and ministers to the residents. He also plays and sings Christian music, and as he introduces a song he tells something related to it, and the people don't realize he's preaching a sermon. If I can help you with the diabetes let me know. Do you have a home glucose tester? You should. Most diabetics have one, even those not taking insulin shots. Hoipe you can change your meal plans to help you. I usually eat  3 times a day and sometimes a bedtime snack. Your friend, Kathy

Cindy, How did your sugar tolerance test come out? Haven't heard from you in a few days.  Hope all is well. Are you o.k.?                                             Kathy

Don't know much about dogs, wish I could help you there. It was too cold to ride today 26 degrees this morning. They cancelled and called me yesterday. Tonight it's supposed to go into the teens, then tomorrow night another freeze warning. It will be in the 70's next week. It will warm up to the 40's and 50's the next couple of days. We're having a colder than usual winter here. That happens sometimes. Let me know how your dog is doing.  Kathy

Cindy, I felt the same way you do when I was first diagnosed. Whatever is bothering you I hope the Medical Professionals can help. Some diabetics are controlled with just diet--but you really have to stick to it to keep from using insulin. The shots aren't painful, but the thought of it is. Well I hope you're o.k. Kathy

I'm sorry to hear you have Diabetes. I'm probably telling you something you already know, you need to control your sugars, to control the infection. My sister has it worse than I do, and was diagnosed after a nasty infection that wouldn't heal. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and some meat. I fill up on fresh veggies. The canned stuff has too many extras in them for most diabetics. How are they treating your diabetes, if I m ay ask? If I'm too nosey, you don't have to answer that or any other questions you may have. I've had diabetes going on 16 years, so maybe I can help you.  Kathy
