About Me

I live in Oklahoma. Last November I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune neurological disease called Stiff Person Syndrome. There isn't much known about this disease. I have learned that there are about 1 in 1 million people who have this disease. I have met about 6 people on the internet who also have this disease. My best friend in all the world I met on the NORD website where you can post a blog. I asked if there was anyone else out there with this condition and somehow God put us together. Her name is Tracy Heading and she lives thousands of miles away from me in Australia. We have become closer than sisters because we understand what each other are going through. If you haven't heard about this disease I'm not surprised because not many Dr's have. Many at first thought it was just stress that wsa triggering horrible muscle spasms, so a neurologist put me on medication for stress. The spasms continued, sometimes going on for weeks at a time unless I was sleeping and they would stop until the next day. I finally told my primary care Dr. that I couldn't stand them anymore and would he please send me to someone that could diagnose what I had.

A neurologist at the OU Medical Center diagnosed me, through emg's and blood work.

I have three beautiful daughters. My oldest is married to a police officer, my middle one is single, and my youngest is married to a supervisor for a distribution center. My oldest daughter is going to college to be a respitory therapist, my middle one is working and my youngest is going to college for elementary eduaction. My husband of 26 years is a very hard worker in the Oklahoma oilfields, and I stay at home because of my condition. I have two dogs and two cats that keep me entertained. I love to spend time with family and friends and talk to Tracy in Australia. We have sent each other different things from each of our countries, it is just so great to have a friend like she is.

My style is pretty laid back I just take one day at a time as God gives them to me. Some are bad and some are good but I make the most of them. What I like most about life is just the freedom of living it any way we choose to do.  The last thing I bought for a friend was Christmas gifts that I sent to Tracy and her family.
