Now what?

My son graduated from High School last night. I can't believe how fast his senior year went. It was not that long ago that he graduated from kindergarten, had his first school dance and the list could go on for a long time of firsts. My husband and I have always been very involved in his life, from T-ball, little league, marching band, scouts, drama club and other interests he's had. We supported him in everything and let him know when he was trying to do too much. Our children are a blessing and I have always felt that the time it takes to raise a child is not alot to ask from parents. Our children are our legacy and I'm very proud of my son. I believe that he will be a good citizen of our country.

Maybe you can find a support group in your area of other parents going threw the pain that you are,  or maybe you can start a support group.

You sound like a fanatic momma but truly emotionally you need to let go a little.  My son is graduating at the end of the week and yes I have the same flashes as you too but I also love the man he has become.

If you dont let go of him he will wind up resenting you.  My sonny is already signed up for college has a fantastic girlfriend of nearly a year now,  and although it is hard you must release him with love.

He will always need his Momma,  but for his own good you need to allow your boy to stand up and become a MAN!

Did I miss something?  It sounds to me like you are very proud of your boy.  And you should be.  He has grown into a fine young man who will now go out into the world and find his way.  One day he will be the parent on the other end of a blog talking aout his pride in his son.  Is he your only child?  I know it is difficult to let go, my son who has Asperger's, is graduating at the end of June.  He is one of two.  He will be going off to college in August.  I will be the happiest and saddest mom in that auditorium.  What is amazing is, it was a very long road and I always said, if I could see in a crystal ball if everything we had done would be worth it.  Turns out, it was.  No one will pop more buttons with pride this year than me.  I adore my son and I say Congratulations CLASS OF 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry for my typo It sounds like you are a FANTASTIC MOMMA SWEETIE

GO CLASS 2009!~
