Anxiety problems

First off... I'm not sure if anxiety is the correct word... more like adrenaline rushes Since I did have to fill out a whole thing just to make my previous comment, I might as well ask. I had a panic attack about 3 months ago or so... and have been having anxiety since then. Went to see a doctor; he said that I have anxiety (after running some tests, including one on my heart) and gave me antidepressants. After 5 weeks of the drugs; my anxiety wasn't going away, plus, I was fake-grinning at inappropriate times (my "smile" muscles were actually feeling quite uncomfortable)... like i was "on something" (which I guess I was) on top of everything, I felt like my body was constantly torturing me... the worst feeling of my whole life. Constant flow of adrenaline. My stomach was feeling nervous at all times. My chest was tight. My throat was tight. Constant nightmares (although I always had them)... the list just keeps going. I stopped taking the pills. I decided to go on a quest to find out what I can do. I tried everything out there (everything was basically a band aid)... HTP5, L-Theanine, multi vitamins, exercising, eating like an angel, quit drinking tea, started taking all of the b-family vitamins, KavaKava... One day I happened onto a site that was talking about the fact that most of America is running around low on a bunch of minerals, which causes your body not to absorb certain vitamins... the cycle just goes around and around. So, I went to the store and asked what most people buy (the guy said, get Natural Vitality magnesium plus calcium) I got it. Went home, made myself the drink... within 20 minutes my stomach anxiety was completely gone... the anxiety in my chest was not. But that was a great improvement; I went from my body torturing me to "this is really annoying" And a bonus: not a bad dream since then. (it's been a few weeks now) The Adrenaline comes and goes. My question is... What else can I do??? Obviously something went wrong and something broke... I'm assuming that I'm low on Cortisol and my Adrenaline is kicking in to make up for it.... I could be wrong... so, how can I fix what ever went wrong???

Everything you describe sounds like classic anxiety to me. I don't understand why the doctor prescribed you antidepressants instead of an anti-anxiety medication. I take Klonopin and it works great. I would seek a second opinion and ask about anti-anxiety medication for you.

Oh yes.  I forgot to mention that Klonopin was one of the things he prescribed along with the antidepressant.  I also tried Xanex... nothing was working

IF cortisol is a steroid, all the symptoms you  had could have been from that alone.  It happened to me big-time and it felt like I had a ton of ritalin in me (not on that anymore though but used to be so that is how I know how abotu it) and told to sit still--that kind of anxiety, anxiousness.

He probably gave you anti-depression medication because these work on anxiety too. My doctor was considering putting me on one of those, though it's anxiety that's really my problem. I'm not on any medication though. Medications don't really solve problems.

Anxiety is a mental disorder. I think you should go to your doctor again, and ask to be referred to a psychologist. I was, and after having waited for now 3 months I'm getting one in a few weeks.

I personally have suffered for too many yrs. with panic attacks and anxiety ..I do NOT like to be on prescription medication..this past year I tried Zanaprin its Natural I am big into all natural and organics ANYTHING that is NOT addicting I have felt top notch with this product its made by Lazarus Labs and you can read all about it on this url http://www.noprescription-rx.com/ZANAPRIN.HTML all the ingredients and information are there. Hope this MIGHT be something you could look into. Janet
