Could danger threaten from an unexpected source? Many are casting a suspicious eye at the bathroom after one woman’s toilet reported erupted – while she was using it!
Angela says she was blown from her seat by a geyser of water and human waste, which covered her bathroom – and her. She even had feces in her mouth!
Pediatrician Dr. Tanya Altmann says she been hit by exploding diapers before, but the toilet is a new one on her. Apparently, the sewer line backed up and created tremendous pressure, causing the poop typhoon. “Plumbing can go two ways,” notes ER Physician Dr. Travis Stork.
Angela is now in therapy for post-traumatic stress. Urologist Dr. Jennifer Berman sympathizes. “Feces, for some reason, there’s something so putrid about it. And to have that happen to you, on your body, in your mouth, in your hair, all over your bathroom, would be traumatizing!”
ER Physician Dr. Travis Stork reminds us, “But if you do happen to get in one of these scenarios -- feces itself is not going to kill you, but good hygiene, washing your hands, all of those things” are crucial.
