Dr. Michelle Ware from the Los Feliz Med Spa in Los Angeles, California demonstrates the cellupulse treatment on Ilona.
Dr. Ware explains that the technology was originally used for sports injuries such as tendonitis, muscle tears, strains and pains, but patients noticed a welcome side effect. The machine emits acoustic waves that increase circulation in targeted areas of the skin. In turn, the skin's elasticity is increased, which reduces the appearance of cellulite.
"Cellulite is a circulation problem, which will cause fat cells to swell," explains Dr. Ware. "The connective tissue between the fat cells will shrink and harden, and that creates that dimpling effect you see with cellulite."
