Robotic Gastric Bypass
Angela says she’s struggled with her weight for most of her life and after reaching more than 300 pounds, she vowed to lose the weight before her children got old enough “to notice that their mom was bigger than everybody else.” But, when she still struggled to drop the pounds and began having health issues because of her weight, she made the life-changing decision to have gastric bypass surgery.

“I can’t wait for the surgery. I can’t wait for the restart button, and I can’t wait to have an active role in my family,” Angela says.

In the operating room, her surgeon Dr. Kai Nishi had a little extra help — from a robot.

Go into the operating room with Angela and see how Dr. Nishi uses the robot to assist with her gastric bypass surgery.

Get Back on Your Feet
Kristy wore tennis shoes with her prom dress and flip-flops with her wedding dress because of a painful foot condition called mallet toe.

Mallet toe is caused when the muscle that pulls the tip of the toe down becomes too strong and the joint contracts and stays down. The condition can be hereditary and can be exacerbated by physical activity.

Watch as podiatrist Dr. Ali Khosroabadi performs a minimally invasive procedure to help Kristy flaunt her feet.

Dr. K explains the difference between common toe conditions, and how he performs the surgery so that patients like Kristy are back on their feet more quickly.

Wave Goodbye to Flabby Arms
Deb is a fitness instructor, but as she's gotten older, she says she is increasingly unhappy with the flab under her arms.

She visits Dr. Aaron Rollins of Elite Body Sculpture to have airbrush laser liposculpture. Dr. Rollins explains how he uses a special tool to remove fat without a needle, scalpel or stitches.

“It lets me focus on doing the sculpture, the artistry of it, rather than the manual labor part," Dr. Rollins says.

"That night, I was cooking dinner for my kids, and I was back to work the next day teaching yoga," Deb says.

Prevent a Pain on the Neck
Andrew says he’s had small bumps on the back of his neck for the past 13 years and has tried many methods to reduce their appearance.

Dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee diagnoses Andrew with acne keloidalis nuchae, a form of acne that occurs on the back of the neck and scalp.

“What we worry about with this is that it progresses,” Dr. Lee says. “Imagine you keep getting pimples here. You get another bump and another bump. It becomes a big, ugly keloid plaque, and you don’t want that.”

Dr. Lee offers options to help Andrew prevent the condition from getting worse.
