Weight Loss Transformation
Jon Calvo previously appeared on The Doctors in September 2013 to share the diet and exercise regimen that helped him lose 175 pounds, a process which he documented on YouTube. Although he’d finally overcome his life-long battle with excess weight, Jon was left with sagging, excess skin all over his body.

The Doctors arranged for him to see board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Susan Lovelle, who agreed to perform the surgery to remove the skin at no cost to Jon.

This video contains footage from a live surgical procedure. Viewer discretion is advised.

“The fact that I can wear tight clothing without having to wear a compression garment … it makes the world of a difference,” Jon says.

Living with PCOS
Linda, 21, began to experience irregular and painful periods at age 14. Her doctor diagnosed her with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine disorder which causes an imbalance of sex hormones in women.

According to the PCOS Foundation, between five and 10 percent of women are affected by PCOS, which can cause changes in a woman’s menstrual cycle, cysts on the ovaries and fertility complications. If left untreated, the condition can also lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Losing weight may help stabilize the hormone imbalance caused by PCOS, and birth control pills can be used to regulate one's menstrual cycle.

In Linda’s case, the hormonal imbalance caused her body to produce excess hair growth on her chin, back, stomach and thighs. She says she’s very embarrassed by the hair growth and even had to drop out of school due to the bullying she experienced by her classmates. She has also struggled with excess weight, which she says she’s been unable to lose no matter what course of action she takes. She reached out to The Doctors for help to find a treatment for her condition.

The Doctors send Linda to OB-GYN Dr. Jennifer Ashton for a consultation.
"We're going to make it better. I promise," Dr. Ashton says.

Linda joins The Doctors, and physician nutrition specialist Dr. Melina Jampolis offers to help find the right diet to tackle Linda’s insulin resistance, which has hindered her weight loss efforts in the past.

New Treatment for GERD Jenny, 29, developed gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) three years ago. She says that the condition, which causes chronic heartburn and acid reflux, became increasingly severe, and over-the-counter medications and changes in diet did not help reduce her symptoms. She then sought treatment from gastroenterologist Dr. Kenneth Chang, who performed the cutting-edge Stretta procedure.
