One place people often have to undress is at the doctor's office. But it isn't always comfortable to do so.

"When women ask me should their gynecologist be a man or a woman, I say, 'Whomever you're comfortable with as your doctor,'" OB-GYN Dr. Lisa Masterson says. "That's what's most important. Men and women [doctors] both have great bedside manners."

ER physician Dr. Travis Stork adds, "There's nothing that we doctors haven't seen."

Tips to Prepare for an OB-GYN Appointment

  • Do not have sex 24 to 48 hours prior to appointment time.
  • Do not douche.
  • Avoid using vaginal creams or powders.

Spice It Up Between the Sheets
Julia and Anthony have been married for seven years and are looking for ways to find ways to spice up their sex life.

Playing safely with food.

Sex safe and danger zones.

Playful products for the bedroom.

Sleeping in the Nude
Kimberly wants to start sleeping in the buff, and wonders if it's healthy to do so. Dr. Lisa explains that how you sleep is a personal preference. "A lot of times, I tell my patients that the vagina needs to breathe," she says. "Airing out is great. Some people will just want to have the support of some clothing on them, especially a bra if they have larger breasts. It's OK to sleep in your underwear, but never sleep in a thong."

Wearing thong underwear can contribute to bladder and vaginal infections, because the thin string can transfer bacteria from the rectum to the vagina.

"I have a great idea," Dr. Ruth says. "One day, you sleep nude, and the next day, you put your favorite pajamas on."

"If you do sleep naked," Dr. Travis adds, "you do need to pay attention to the fact that you are getting some fecal matter on your sheets. This is just a reality, so wash your sheets more regularly."
