The Doctors tackles your biggest medical questions and concerns, one letter at a time.

Age Spots
Whether it's a home remedy or higher-end store-bought product, 90 million Americans use anti-aging products.

Three simple suggestions for good skin for years to come:

Aloe: Aloe is nature's best moisture for your skin — and it has anti-aging properties to diminish brown spots and wrinkles.

Lemon: Lemon possesses citric acid, which also is an agent in reducing brown spots. Spread a little of the juice on a target area, let it dry before you go outside and repeat a couple times a day. After a prolonged period of time, you will start to notice the effects.

Store-Bought Items: Those store bought items are helpful, but you'll want to make sure the ingredients include vitamins A and C, Kojic Acid and Retinols, which are part of the vitamin A family.

Bad Breath
Seventy percent of all people say bad breath is their biggest turn off. To resolve the problem, gargle with half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, not white vinegar. This will stop the germs that cause bad breath and neutralize smelly odors.

• Other remedies to end bad breath.

Canker Sores
A canker sore is an ulceration or lesion in the soft tissues inside your mouth. Stress, continuously biting your lip and spicy foods can exacerbate the sore.

Sauerkraut has shown to help in clearing up canker sores. The acid kills harmful bacteria, and the fermentation provides probiotics, which may promote healing. The key is to use fresh sauerkraut, because canned can have vinegar, which can make the sore hurt.

If you experience chronic canker sores, see a doctor, because they may indicate a more serious problem, such as: allergies; B12, Zinc or iron deficiency; celiac disease; inflammatory bowel disease or certain immune deficiencies.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea, or loose, watery stool, is caused by a virus or bacteria. The condition isn't a problem; the dehydration that comes along with diarrhea can be a serious matter.

One of the biggest mistakes parents make is giving their child juice or sports drinks which contain sugar that can make diarrhea worse!

Erection
If your man is having problems maintaining an erection, one solution may be to eat asparagus. Loaded with vitamin E, this vegetable will promote testosterone production and blood flow to the area. Other steps to resolve the issue include: staying active, reducing stress and eating plenty of fruits and veggies.

"If you suffer from erectile dysfunction, asparagus is not going to be the answer," Dr. Travis warns. "You actually have to talk to your doctor about treatment options."

Flatulence
The average person passes gas 14 times per day. Flatulence contains gases, such as: nitrogen, hydrogen sulfate, carbon dioxide, methane and oxygen, but only some give off an offending odor.

Foods that Cause Flatulence:
• Broccoli
• Cabbage
• Beans
• Nuts

• Grapefruit: Aids in digestion by increasing the body's digestive enzymes. You can also add grapefruit seed drops into grapefruit juice to create a flatulent-free cocktail.

Nosebleed

Dr. Travis explains that the best way to treat a nosebleed is to lean forward, pinch your nose with your thumb and forefinger and hold it for 10 minutes. Do not tilt your head back. This does not stop the bleeding, and in fact, it can cause blood to travel to your stomach, possibly leading to irritation and vomiting. It can also make you choke.

"Pressure, believe it or not, will stop the great majority of nosebleeds," Dr. Travis says. "The reason people often end up in the ER is because they'll hold for a minute, they'll let go, hold for 30 seconds." He adds that you should sit down, but do not lie down, because you want your nose to be above the level of your heart.

Dr. Sears says that he uses a decongestant nose drop or nose spray for a stubborn nosebleed. "This constricts the blood vessels in the nose — that's how it decongests you — and it will stop a pretty nasty nosebleed pretty quickly," he says.

Oily Skin
To get the oil on your skin under control, don't use harsh cleaners because they stimulate the skin to produce more oil. Instead, wash your face with a gentle, low pH cleanser. You can also use a clay mask for a weekly deep cleanse. If you suffer with severe oil, visit a dermatologist.

Psoriasis
Seven-and-a half million Americans suffer from psoriasis. It's most commonly seen as red, raised patches with silvery white scales. If you suffer from psoriasis, try the following treatments:

• Soak in oatmeal or sea salt
• Lock in moisture immediately after soaking
• Wrap your treatments in plastic wrap
• Talk to your doctor about possible ultraviolet skin treatments

Quit the Clean Your Plate Club

"We have to pay attention, not only to portion sizes, but our body's hunger signals," Dr. Travis says. "Our temptation is to always clean the plate." He points out that plate sizes have grown over time.

If you quit the habit, you could lose 28 pound in a year!

"Americans underestimate how much we eat, sometimes by 30 to 50 percent," Dr. Travis continues. He explains that if you normally eat 900 calories at one meal and lessen that by 30 percent at one meal, you would save 270 calories per day, which equals 28 pounds lost in a year.
