Hi ALL,
I have a friend that has a lap cat (rag doll) about 9 months old, very expensive. She has tried everything she knows to get the cat to do her business in the litter box, when she was a kitten she did not have this problem. She occasionally will do it in the box, but most of the time she does not. Her cat will urinate in the box but wants to BM outside of the Box (In front, on the side, or behind), she loves her cat but is becoming very frustrated. Can anyone provide advise?

You probably already know that cats are royalty ! lol Here's what I do:
Take the cat and cage it.. a good sized one because you don't want to traumatize the cat. Put the cat in the cage with a small litter box, a bit of food and water.. perhaps a small favorite toy. That's for when the cat fails. Don't leave the cat in too long, they're too sensitive, but allow them to whine awhile..perhaps fall asleep. It will be difficult, but it has always worked well for us. Always use gloves and a good sanitizer. Keep the cage and the cat clean. Best wishes on this. Norey
Cats and most animals like a clean environment. Always clean the litter box every day. Some cats even like to have two seperate boxes for pee and poo.
