So it has been 14 days since I went in for my laparoscopy and had the pap smear done. On the day of the surgery (Monday November 23rd) I arrived at the hospital at 6:30am with my mom and dad to check in and was taken to into the room that I would be in before and after the surgery around 7:20am. One of the nurses tried to put the IV into my hand but when she did a pain shot up my arm and she just ignored it and left the IV in saying that it would be alittle sore, I have had several IV's before and not once had it hurt that much, so when a different nurse came in and asked how I was doing I told her about it and she removed and told me that they would just put on in in the operating room. At 8:20am they moved me into the pre-op room where the stuck me under the vent which was blowing cold air so I lied there freezing as I waited to go in for the surgery. I met the anesthesiologist who explain how the general anesthesia works and that becuase of my asthma the breathing tube would probably irritate my chest more than others and that I would wake up with and oxygen mask on, and my doctor also came to talk to me to make sure that I understood wwhat was going to happen, and to make an appiontment to see her before christmas as a follow up appointment. At 8:50am they moved me into the operating room where the anesthesiologist put in the IV and hooked me up to all the monitors and gave me the general anesthesia. Then at about 9:50am I woke in the recovery room where I was so cold that I could not stop shaking, I had 4 heated blankets on me and I was still shaking and cold. I was being given oxygen like the anesthesiologist said but my oxygen level was fine and I really didn't need it but they left it on just incase. At 10:20am I was moved back into the first room where there took me of the oxygen and told me to try to get some rest but I couldn't sleep. I was in a little pain but not too much because they had frozen me at the incision sites so when the nurse asked me how I was doing an I said that I was in a little bit of pain she gave me some ibuprofen which took the pain away. By 11:30am I was up and walking and was only a little light headed, my nurse came over and explained the at home care instructions, said to phone my doctors on thursday to get the results and gave me some percocet to go home with to help with the pain and said that I could go home soon. At about 1:30pm they removed my IV and we left the hospital and went home. When I got home I was tired but couldn't sleep so I just lied in the recliner and watched movies. The next day I woke up in a little pain but it was not too bad and I did not need to take any of the pain killers. I had no appetite so I just drank water and juice all day. Later on my mom and I decided to try to wipe off the iodine that was left on me after the surgery and as we were wiping it off I started to feel light headed so we stopped and as I was walking back to the chair I passed out for a couple of seconds in the hall way, my mom called the number on the at home instructions and the nurse on the line told her to try to get me to the hospital but my mom said that there was no way that she could carry me so the nurse told her to call 911, the firemen arrived first at my house and moved me into the living room to make it easier for the paramedics to access me and the paramedics arrived shotrly after. I was shaking really bad and was really pale when they took my vitals everything came back normal except my blood glucose level was a little low and they said that that was from me not eating and that I passed out because I over exerted myself. They felt that I did not need to go to the hospital and said that I would be better for me to stay home rather than have them take me to the hospital where I would be around sick people putting me at a higher risk of infection, they asked us if we were ok with that and we said that it was fine, they told me to try to eat something and to go and get some gatorade to give me electolytes and that that should help with the light headedness and left shorlty after. (Passing out was not the way I planned on spending my 19th birthday). On thurday we phoned the doctors office and the person at the front desk said that my doctor was out of town for the week and that my results had not come in and that it was to realy to get the results anyway. For the next few day I basically forced myself to eat because I still had no appetite but I made sure that I was drinking lots of fluids. The pain gradually got worse over the days and the percocet did not help much it numbed the pain for maybe and hour and then stopped working.
On the 28th the pain got so bad and I was also having chest pain and my chest felt tight like it does when my asthma acts up and I felt really warm like I was running a fever but my temperature was normal, after sitting around all day in pain my mom called the help line number that was given to us and asked them some questions about what we should do because I did not want to call and ambulance because I knew that they would come and look at me and tell me that I would be better off to stay home like they had done everyother time that we had ever called them eventhough I knew I would end up in the hospital any way, and the nurse on the help line told us to go to the hostital. So at 10:30pm we left for the hostipal and got there at 11:00pm, when we walked in almost everyone in the waitng room was wearing a mask which made me think that someone there had the H1N1 flu. A nurse at the triage desk took my vital signs and my heart rate was 133 beats/minute, my blood pressure was high, and my oxygen level was normal, she said that because my vital signs I was a high priority but because they had no beds available she sent me out into the waitng room and asked me on a scale of 1-10 how much pain I was in and I said about a 7 out of 10. After an hour and a half in the waiting room the checked my vital signs again and they were still high and sent me back into the waiting room because they still had no bed for me. At this point I had started to feel quite light-headed again but there was nothing I could do so I just sat there in the waiting room to be called up to the triage desk again. About an hour later they checked my vital signs again and they had not changed and yet again they sent me back to the waiting room. After a little over 3 hour of being in the waiting room with a heart rate of 133 and high blood pressure I was finally taken back into a room were a doctor talked to me and took my vital signs again and said that they had finally gotten me a bed and that they were going to hook me up to an IV and they were going to get some abdominal x-rays done. Finally back in a room with 6 hospital beds a nurse took my blood and set up the IV to get fluids into me and said that the doctor would be in to talk to me again, once the IV was started and the fluids were being administered I got really cold and could not stop shaking even with 4 blankets on I was still shaking and cold. The doctor said that they were trying to get me in for the x-rays but that the radiology lab was really busy and that I would be some time before I could get the x-rays done. At 4:00am they finally were able to get me in for the x-rays and when I went to the radiology lab I was expecting it to be really busy there but it was completely empty. It was hard to stand still for the x-rays because I was shaking so bad but the pictures turned out fine. I went back to the hostpial room that I was in and the nurse came over to check my vital signs and said that my heart rate was slowly going down and that is was so fast because it was dehydrated, then she changed the IV bag because it was empty and told me that the doctor would be in to talk to me soon. 2 hours later the docotr came in and said that the blood tests came back normal and that the abdominal x-rays showed nothing. He said that the pain in my chest could be from the gas they use to inflate the abdomen during the surgery and that there was probably some still in me and that it was irritating my organs. He said that there was nothing else that he could do for me because they did not have the results back from my surgery yet and that he wanted to wait until he had the results before he did anything so that he was not doing things that didn't need to be done. At this point my vital signs were back to normal so he sent me home and told me to try to eat something and to make sure that I was drinking lots, and at this point I was at about a 5 out of 10 on the pain scale and I was still shaking really bad.
On monday we phoned the docotrs office again and the person at the desk said that it could take btwn 5 and 10 days to get the results and that my doctor would be back on thursday so we should phone again then, we also told here that I was still in a lot of pain so she managed to phone my family doctor and got me in for an appointment that day. We went to my doctors office and I told her that I was in more pain now then I was before the surgery and that the pressure in my head was worse also that the pain meds were not doing much also that i constantly felt really warm but my temperature was normal each time we took it, she told me that she would keep phoning the other doctor to try to get the results form the surgery and that she would try to get me booked in for a head CT to rule out a brain tumor b/c one of my cousins has one and I have some of the symptoms that she did before she was diagnosed. She examined me and said that the increase in pain could be from the gas that they used during the surgery and that the pain in my chest should go away once my body absorbs the gas. She also told me to keep an eye on my temperature to watch out for a possible infection and to come back or go back to the hospital if I got worse.
We phoned the doctors office again on thursday and the person at the fron desk said that my doctor was not back yet and that the results were still not in and that it could take up to 14 days to get the results and that they were sent to the hospital first.
I am getting really frustrated with the doctor who did my surgery because she said that if she did not have back to back surgerys that day she would have told me what she had found after I had recovered some from the surgery that day, and I would have the results back by thursday was performing surgery on that day she had 3 in a row (was the second of the day) and she had 2 back to back later on that day. So there are 5 of us waiting for our results and we were all left with no way of contacting her after our surgery incase we had and questions or complications after our surgerys. She also said that I would be able to go to school on wednesday and that in a week i would be feeling much better that I was before the surgery. Even my family doctor is starting to get frustrated because she would like to know if she finally figured out what has been causing my pain.
It has been a total of 147 days since the pain first started and I am still waitinf for an answer to what is causing my pain. I have stopped taking the percocet becuase I think I was having a reaction to it and that it was cauing my chest pain and the tightness in my chest but nothing has changed. The pain in my chest is getting worse and I still have some tightness in my chest as well, I still have almost no appetite, am still a little light headed at times, I can not stand or walk for long periods of time, Iam still in a lot of pain, my hands are still shaking a lot, the pressure in my head continues to get worse each day, and I constantly feel warm like Im running a fever but my temperature always comes back normal.
I wish they would just give me the results of my surgery and the pap smear and let me know if I have endometriosis or not, or if they found something else, even if they found nothing because then they could at lest start looking for something else and I could start getting back to my life.
I have missed so much school that I don't even know if im going to be able to pass my final on december 19th, I had dropped all of my courses execpt the one becuase it is only offered in the fall and I was hoping that I would be able to at least somehow suffer through it and complete the course. I have been to only 5 or 6 of the 14 classes that we have had and this week is the last class before the final so I am hoping I will not be in too much pain so that I can go and find out what is on the final, and now I may have to take an incomplete for the course which would allow me to finish the assignments at my convenience which could have an affect on my final grade and my GPA which is not a good thing.
I just want my life back so I can start doing the things that I love to do like dance and play my instruments.

Honey, did you ever get your doctor to run a vit D test? If you are deficient, your body simply doesn't have what it needs to function properly. I know it sounds like this just can't possibly be causing your problems, but listen to this: the wife of one of my pain clinic colleagues who I mentioned before didn't believe it, either. She has been suffering since she was a teenager. I don't know her exact age, but she's either in her late 30's or early 40's. Three years ago when she was first told that she was vitamin D deficient, she disregarded the advice to get treated for it. It just seemed too simple. She ended up with two surgeries, one botched endometriosis surgery, and another to fix it, and then she comes to find out that it has been the vit D deficiency all along, probably even back to her teenage years. You are still so young, and you really need to take this seriously as it could save you years of pain and suffering. Don't do what my colleague's wife did. If you would like, I can try to get her to sign up on this website and talk to you directly. Let me know if you would like this. Please, ask your dr. for vit D [called 25(OH)D], PTH, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous blood tests. I'm assuming she's already run all the other standard tests like glucose, blood tests for kidney function, etc. Please do this, and tell me what your levels are so you can benefit from what I learned from the errors made my medical care for my own vitamin D deficiency so your doctor can treat your vit D deficiency quickly and effectively, if indeed you have a deficiency.
Unbelievable is the word that kept rolling through my head while I read your story. I know you have been diligent about trying to get the results I just wish you could make more noise(so to speak). I think that you regular Dr. should be completely irate and be demanding the results. Todays technology is faster than that. I also feel the lack of treatment you are getting is horrible. I feel like they are blowing you off. I hope you have been documenting EVERYTHING. So at least you have some legal recourse if needed. You are the one that knows you best. Don't stop. Bug them everyday twice a day if you have to. Get a lawyer if you have to. I speak from experience. I hope that you get the relief you deserve soon and the answers as well. Best of luck.
My family doctor hads been phoning in everyday but she still has been unable to get the results, I don't get how it can take this long to get the results back from my surgery its not like they had to send the samples out to some lab far away the lab is in the hospital. And how can they keep telling me each time I phone that I will have the results in a couple of days and that they will be sent to the hospital first, of course they will be sent to the hospital, the tests are being done in the hospital.
I have been writing everything down and I bring it with me when I go and see a different doctor. There was one point when I was in the hospital (it was my 3rd time being there in 3 months) that the doctor looked at me as if it was all in my head and he blew off my symptoms as being nothing and sent me home with some antibiotics for a possible bladder infection that I didn't even have, I don't even think he completely read through my chart. Not all of the doctors I have seen have been bad though there was one doctor at the hospital (my 2nd visit) who reviewed my chart to see what test had been run and then ran his own test and after he couldn't find anything he did admit that he had no idea of what could be causing my pain and said sorry for not being able to help me.
Once I get my results back from the surgery and if they show nothing I am going to ask my doctor to run a vitamin D test, there is no harm in running it even if it does come back normal.
