The blood type diet has been around since 1997 when Dr. Peter D'Adamo fisrt wrote Eat Right For Your Type which became a best seller. There is a lot more science in this book than any other diet book in the market. This is why I would like to ask Dr. Travis to do his homework and check the references on the back of the book. If that is not enough, Dr. D'Adamo has an extensive web-site fully loaded with science (www.dadamo.com). I dont blame Dr. Travis because what doctors learn about nutricion in school has not changed much in decades. The food pyramid is still used despite many discoveries that contradic it. A concept as sophiticated and advanced as the blood type diet is difficult to comprehend and it is easier to dismiss it. I hope Dr. Travis finds the time to look at this diet again with an opened mind. It would be great if he can leave his ego aside and review it again. I speak from experience the blood type diet works for me and my family and I tell everyone about its benefits.

Just because a book is a best seller does not make it a sound book. References and websites also do not dictate a valid book. I am glad it works for you and as they did mention that it COULD work for some, its really limiting healthy foods.
I am type B blood type and I love the things that I am supposted to avoid. And all are healthy itmes to be eating.
All in all, the more we spend IN THOUGHT about our foods the better we are and the healthier we will be. IF we are mindful of our food intake, we are less likly to over eat. If we watch what goes in our mouths the more likely we wont over eat, or eat the wrong things (as often at least).
I eat a well rounded diet of fruits and veggies, lean meats, whole grains, healthy oils/fats and omega 3s, I limit sugar and alchohle beverages. I exercise regularly and drink lots of plain water. THis in the end will make you healthy individual.
Moderation is the key. ALL things are great in moderation (that with the exception of being allergic to things).
I too am a fan of this way of eating. I do know that it does not work for everyone but for me it has helped me quite a bit. I am a B non-secretor and I really need to pay attention to avoiding certain foods like sugar and wheat or my allergies will really flare up. However, not all B's can eat the same on the diet either. Every one is an individual and has certain sensitivities and health challenges. A food may be fine for me to eat but if my body has been altered in any way, it may be intolerant so I just stay away from it. All in all, I generally follow the guidelines for my blood type 80 percent which is Dr. D'Adamo's recommendation anyway.
I have been eating this way since 2001, I don't do it to lose weight I do it to feel better. I am a B blood type and I think it has helped me with a lot of things, such as my allergies, and being clumsy. When I stopped eating chicken I no longer had the painful periods that I once had, I know that sounds strange but it is true. I will not go back to eating any other way.
Last year I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a genetic disorder that my body adsorbs too much iron (ferritin). I had to go and get weekly blood draws to reduce the amount of iron from my system. I was told I would have to do this for the rest of my life, until I came across a book called Eat For Your Type. I am A+ blood type and followed the A blood type diet. My iron levels actually normalized from this diet and it has been a year since my last blood draw. My hematologist cannot understand how I am keeping my iron levels down with out blood draws and is skeptical that a diet can control this. I just keep telling him you are what you eat! I think any one who shoots this diet down should try it before they have an opinion. It is also saving me big bucks because I have a very high deductible health insurance plan.
i had nutrition at the standard nursing school level .i'm o blood and have always strived for diversity in food choices and maintained reasonable balances . i was skeptical of d adamo's book ,but did studdy it. the thing is i have noticed some tendencies among the different types . my daughter is A blood and does in fact eat very little meat ,she thrives on grains . grandpa is also A blood and will not eat liver . i'm skinney and the book says to avoid or lower bean and grain consumption ,however the bean soup which i eat alot in winter does put some weight and fullness in my face . its noticeable .now i bet i'm pretty smart ,but i cannot dismiss d adamo's criteria . i'm 5 '11" and struggle with weight only being 131-138 pounds . this is not so suprising to me anymore since i believe i'v lived with cancer all my life and this cancer seems connected to the contaminated polio vaccines of the 50s .
