I wouldn't drink any alcohol if on BP meds...including cough syrup--on the label it says to check with your doctor if you have high BP among other things; I didn't, and learned my lesson--my blood pressure went up enough to feel it in my chest and I took an extra BP pill to get it down...shouldn't have taken the cough syrup in the first place.  NOT suggesting to just take another pill if your BP goes up before checking with your doctor.  I was just stupid not to ask first, both before taking the cough medicine and also the extra pill.
