THat's awesome.. How you are teaching them. I always got the 'cuz i said so so live with it' thing. And for some things, that works, but for others.... I rebelled majorly! I have two 'formal jobs'.. I work at a hotel as a desk clerk. I get to sit on my ass and check people in.. which is where i get internet access. and I also work at a fast food restaurant. I babysit when people need and when I can. And I even clean a few houses for some extra money when I can. I would love to be able to afford to stay at home but unfortunately we can't. I'm hoping with all these different jobs we might be able to afford internet and maybe then I can find a stay at home job. I'm also hoping to go back to school. I'm going for accounting if I can but i mostly work nights, so it might not work out. We will wait and see what it brings. If I had a choice I'd send my husband back to college to be a mechanic, he goofed off too much and his parents pulled him out before he graduated. But we've talked about it and when we do get the money i'm going back as a a part time student. Hopefully by then i will be down to one job. The nice thing is both my jobs are evening or afternoon, so i have most of the morning while my daughter is in preschool to do house work without the help of a three-year old :) she means well...but... tehre's only so much i can take. I hate cleaning of any sort, but around here it pays pretty good. and a lot of time with the babysitting my friends and I exchange. So that's kind of nice. I know i sound cynical sometimes, and i don't mean to criticize.. I just remember how it was for me. Course, my parents were too focused...no my mother was too focused on my dad cheating and my siblings moving in with significant others before marriage to care about what was going on with me.. It's a HAPPY DAY!!!!
hey gurl! That's great that you have the resources to give the kids the education they need to get to college. Half of my public school career was the four years in highschool. I was researching colleges in Juinoir high..I had no life...i still have no life... And I found, mostly because of my parent's financail situation that i could not get the science i needed in order to be able to go to the school i wanted. It does depend on the kid a lot. I always knew the option was there to go back to homeschooling. or when I was at home to go to public school. I don't have the patience for it..or the funds. My biggest thing that i always will remember about homeschooling, not to freak you or anybody else out, was a family that was in our homeschool group. I don't know what your rules are with your kids or anything and that depends a lot on it too... But this mom, her whole reason the ONLY reason she was homeschooling was to keep her sons away from the bad stuff in public school. Yes, there's bad stuff. You getin with the 'right' crowd you learn to drink do drugs, stuff like that. This family, the boys still got into, one's in a fed prison, he became a professional theif after rebelling from teh forced chruch life and very closly monitored home life. The other got killed in a car crash when he was 16. He was driving drunk, killed him and at least one other person. I know that's just one instance. On the same note, there's another family of girls, they are all working in banks and happy. Yes, I rebelled...I got drunk once.. I don't remember what happened...I know there was at least two guys in the room getting drunk with me. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! But anyway gurl. Have fun with the whole homeschool thing, and if i may ask, are you going through like Umbrella Tree or something like that?
If I may, and you don't have to answer...Why do you homeschool? I was homeschooled for six years and public school for six.. I saw benefits in both depending on the kids... Just curious mostly.
