About Me
Hi Doctors!
I have lived quite a life...I'm here to tell about it.
In 1994, I had what's called a Central Cord Syndrome...a spinal cord injury. Ironically in 1994 I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, had a surgery to prevent the big P. (Paralysis) But the heavy medications from that surgery made me dizzy. I passed out. The Big P happened. After that I had a hard time holding my head up and had a c3-c7 spinal fusion and had a few plates inserted for stability.
I am now feeling great about myself as I learned how to feel again. While I was in the ICU not being able to feel a thing, I learned that the feelings from the heart far outweigh the feelings from the body. I was not able to hug or to comfort someone, that's what hurt...the feelings I could not express. I am proud to say I can hug now and feel it, and I'm here to tell about it.
I love life now. I used to take it for granted but now it seems like I try to do several things at once to make up for the time when I couldn't do much. I appreciate even the small things in life....even a beesting...heck, I can feel it!
I love to do the things that I didn't think I could ever do...to pull in a 35" (9.3 lb.) northern pike fish without any help. I love that sense of accomplishment.
