Vacation

Hey all,

I haven't updated all of you in a while, so I thought I'd do it now.  As you all know from my last update, my husband had lost his job, we had no income, I was stressed, but trying to stay positive.  Well I'm happy to say that my husband has found a job he really likes, I've been working a lot, but I'm ok for the most part, the account held and all of our bills are paid, we have been truely blessed!  We have even found it possible to start giving back, to help others.  Things are good I feel really blessed.  I wanted to thank all of you for your support and encouragement through the times that were rough, it was very helpful, and thoughtful.

As many of you also know all of my family live on the East Coast.  My parents, my sister and her family and my Grandparents all live in Florida.  My Grandmother has had a really rough year, she has Metastatic Breast Cancer and Parkinson's Disease and has been falling.  In the beginning of this year it was decided to put her in a nursing home, my Grandfather is very healthy and doesn't qualify for a nursing home so they were split up, she hates it, she calls it an asylum.  Well I really would like to go see her and cheer her up, and it looks like I will be able to do that.  I have already put in for Vacation from work so I can go to Florida and visit.  Right now it looks like I will be going June 29th and I don't have to be back to work until July 15th!  I will get to see my parents, my sister and her hubby, my neice and nephew, and my grandparents, and my parents only live about 3 miles from the beach, so it will be fun.  We have kind of started a tradition of going to the beach for the 4th of July, we stay there after dark and watch the fireworks, we give the kids those glowing bracelet things they put one on each ankle, one on each wrist and two around there necks and look like glowing aliens playing in the water after dark.  It's pretty cool.  I'm not looking forward to the 24 hour drive there or the one back, especially since hubby won't be able to come with me this time due to the new job, but it's nothing I haven't done a million times before.

Many of you told me I should take a break and not work so hard, (Yvonne, Norey, Barb, Sunnie, Lisa, Bobbie, I think there were many more too) so I'm doing just that!  1 more month of craziness, then I will rest!  LOL  Yes, Yvonne I'm still vegging on the couch with my feet up!  LOL

I'd love to hear your plans for the summer or family traditions, whatever they may be.  I hope all of you have a blessed summer with friends and family, and lots of FUN FUN FUN to go around.

That sounds like a blast!  I hope you and your family have a great time.  I'm happy to hear things are going well for you.  It's been a long time over due.  Just a tip, when going into the water after dark, be VERY careful, that's when sharks and other larger fish come in close to the shore to feed.

I also wish everyone a safe and fun summer!  <3

Hey Bobbie and Lisa,

I'm very excited, it is always good to see my family, I miss my hubby when he can't come with me, but it will still be fun.  As far as the sharks go, last year and the tear before on the beach we were on there was a shoal, a shallow area, so when we there after dark there was a little pond out in front of the surf, it was only about 12 inches deep at the deepest part, the girls just played in that.  The waves weren't even making it into that area, so they had a blast, we could see them with the little glowing bracelets, and they had a blast runiing and playing tag.  I'd be too afraid to have them play in the surf after dark, worse than sharks would be a wave knocking them over and them drowning because we would be unable to find them in the dark.  Typically at night they are too chilly to want to get more than their toes wet anyway.  Oh and for me it is soooooo pretty to watch the sunset splash colors across the sky.  With my Lupus I have to avoid the sun, so at night I can walk the beach.  It's nice for me.

I am glad you are getting away and going to have some fun.But don't put your feet up while you are driving.I know you,you will want to drive straight through but take your time and get out and stretch and do your business. No you can use a coke can instead.I know you were thinking that....Anyway I remember the pics from last time so I know you will have a great time.

Everybody knows what I am doing this summer.I have to learn to keep somethings a surprise for all of you.

Yvonne,

Hey that looks like fun, double decker surfing, why not?  Last summer when I went to Florida I did the Hokie Pokie on roller skates, I turned myself about one to many times and broke my arm in 3 places.  LOL  It was worth it though, we had a lot of fun!  Oh and the broken arm actually ended up being a blessing, so now it's open season on extreme sports!  LOL  Don't worry I won't use a coke can, I'm too prissy for that, but yes I don't like to stop that's for sure.  I'll play it by ear like I always do. LOL  Oh hubby says I don't believe in pumping my own gas, he usually does it for me, but I guess I'll be pumping my own gas all the way to Florida, he'll be glad I'm practicing and hoping I'm a real gas pumping pro when I get home so he won't have to do it anymore. LOL

Hi,

I was wondering where you have been?! Have missed hearing from you!  You are always so upbeat and cheerful.  I bet that drive down there won't seem that long at all?  It's always the drive back that bothers me.  Seems to take twice as long to get back as it does to get there!

How is hubby enjoying his new job?  God is always faithful in His promises.  Sorry to hear your hubby won't be able to make the trip to Florida with you.  I am sorry you will have to make that drive by yourself--well sorta by yourself.  I kinda picture you for the person who sings along with the radio along the way?

So sorry to hear about the situation with your grandparents.  That is so heartbreaking.  I used to work in a retirement/nursing home.  We actually had 4 couples there who shared the same room.  They were so cute and so sweet and I loved them all dearly.  Some residents still kept their cars and would go out on their own from time to time.  We have also seen the growth of several assisted living facilities and communities for the ones who werent ready for nursing home but needed that extra care.  You have probably checked all these things out, but could you not get a caregiver through medicare/medicaid or private insurance so she could stay at home. I have an uncle who has parkinson's so I know the demand for care they need.

Enjoy your time off!!
