Finding Heaven, in the Midst of Sorrow

Hey all,

Are you sick of updates yet?  I had a rough night Tuesday night.  Monday night I thought I had bugs crawling on me and biting me, but I couldn't find anything and decided it was in my head.  Tuesday night I changed the sheets just in case.  I went to bed about 11:30, woke up about midnight and I had huge bites on my legs that were all swelled up like big whelps.  I don't know if the bites were from the night before, or if they were just mosquito bites, they are bad this year and I have killed a couple in the house.  Anyway I got up to get my anti-histamine (Vistiril) from the den.  Hubby was working and as I went to the den I blacked out and fell.  I thought I'd only been on the floor for a few minutes so I took my anti-histamine, well it turned out it was 5:30am; I had been on the floor for 5 1/2 hours.  We had that funeral this morning I was supposed to go to, I was sore from the fall, but not too injured and I made it back to bed and went to sleep.  At 8:30 my alarm went off and I got up to get the kids ready so hubby could get a little sleep before the funeral.  I got them in the tub, they washed their hair, I got up from the couch to help them dry their hair, and I blacked out again and twisted my back when I fell.  I lay on the floor until hubby got up and helped me up, I couldn't see straight so I think it was my blood pressure, anti-histamines raise blood pressure.  So I went and laid back down, hubby and the kids went to the funeral service that was here in town, and the lunch service, then he came back by the house about noon, I had pulled myself back together and gotten dressed, and I drove us all to Lawton, OK so hubby could nap (he had worked all night).  The graveside service was beautiful, she was buried in a military cemetery, it was soooooooo green, the landscaping was impeccable, all green with reddish cedar mulch around the trees, there were fields with long flowing grass waving in the wind making gentle swishing noises, there was a lake, the light breeze making little dancing ripples, and a stone outdoor chapel for the service.  There was Scissortail birds flitting everywhere, the sky was a beautiful shade of blue with large white puffy clouds.  In the distance you could see the Arbuckle Mountains; it was like being in a postcard, absolutely beautiful!  Aunt Ruth's husband said the night she died (She had cancer) he had checked her respirations, fluffed her pillow, looked into her eyes and told her he knew she was ready to go, that he loved her and that it was ok, he said he could see she understood in her eyes, she looked peaceful.  His son came over and had made a cup of tea, then they went in to check on her and his son said "Dad, I think she's gone." and she was.  He told my husband that the best advice he could give was that we should give each other a kiss and remind each other often that you love one another.  I thought that was very sweet.  We stayed sitting quietly in the cool breeze looking at the water, enjoying the day, then we drove home.  The service was lovely, I feel so bad for her hubby though, he's taken such good care of her, and you could see the sorrow, I was thinking what a lovely man he is to come and talk to us about us in the midst of his sorrow.  It really was beautiful there today.  A lot like what I would imagine heaven might look like.  I kept thinking heaven is probably better, but in my mind couldn't figure out how.  Maybe that sounds strange, it was beautiful!!!!

Hubby and I watched Hotel for Dogs Twice (the first time we both fell asleep) the kids fell asleep too, I guess the funeral wiped us out somehow, I did see it the second time, but hubby didn't, it was a very good movie.  Yesterday we also watched a movie called The Five People You Meet in Heaven, it was really good, you should see it if you can.  It shows how all of our lives are connected, and even if we think our lives were wasted, we touched others in ways we may never know.

I'm glad that she is at peace now.  Lawton is a beautiful area,if you take the time to look around...alot of history there.

I did begin to see Five PeopleYou Meet in Heaven, but  never got to finish it.  It was on the Hallmark Channel, did you see it on DVD or TV ?  I'de like to finish it.

I wish you would take your health a little more serious...I'm not your mommy, but I don't like those black outs..too many of them.  Just concerned...Love, Norey

P.S.  Ever thought of writing a book, your very good.

Norey,

The Lupus is acting up a great deal right now, I've been to the doctor about the blackouts when they occur, they don't know why they happen, sugar, blood pressure, fever, are a few of theories, but we don't know.  I'm concerned too, but I don't know what else to do.

Lawton was beautiful, I'm not sure I've ever been in a more beautiful place than I was on Wednesday.  I'm not sure my writing even did it justice.  It was unreal how beautiful it was.  I've never considered writing, my spelling is atrocious, terrible, appalling, it's bad.  Spell check is my best friend, I wish we had it on this site.  My daughter was diagnosed as being Dyslexic or having a writing disorder this year, my dad was told he was dyslexic, through the testing and questions to diagnose my daughter it appears I may have had it all along, it has kind of caused me to be shy about writing.

My husband and I just joined Net Flix, and it was one of the DVD's we could rent, we are in the 2 week trial period right now, we'll see.  But the movie was wonderful, I am so glad I saw it.  Movies stores may have it to rent too.  I cried, but in a good way. :0)

Have you tried seeing a neurologist for the blackouts?

Melissa.

SleepTech

Melissa,

No, I haven't seen a neurologist, I did have a CT and an MRI done on my head, but nothing was found, so the doctor didn't think a neurology consult would help.  I was having a lot of them at one point the doctor thought it was low blood sugar, so when I started not feeling right (I do have warning) I would suck on a piece of candy and seemed to work for a long time.  My body doesn't regulate things correctly when I have a flare-up body temperature, blood pressure, etc, all fluctuate wildly when I'm not feeling well.  They just say "It's the Lupus" or "It's the Auto immune Disorder" and dismiss it.

Yvonne,

I promise I have been on the couch for 2 days (well I do go to bed at night)!  No work until June 4th, at least right now anyway.  So I'm resting up!  Even the hip is good.  Hubby has been working at night, he's working again tonight.  I may just veg all weekend. :0)

You are right about the movie, it was wonderful, hubby and I were both surprised it wasn't a main stream in theaters movie.  It was better than most of them.  Doesn't seem like they make good ones anymore, very often.

Hi Michele,  I don't believe we've had the chance to chat.  Goodness, you've had a  rough week. Sounds like you better take good care of yourself or your friends will be paying you a visit.  It's always comforting to know you have friends willing to do that. What you felt when he came to talk to you wasn't strange, I think that was awesome as what you took from it was too.  Take care, Diana

Hi Michele,

WOW!  What a trying week.  Please share my grief and concern for the both of you to your husband.  It's of little comfort now, but she truly is at peace!

I see everyone here is passing along their advice so I won't add any, but please know that I am concerned about you and your blacking.  Could your blood sugar be dropping too low? Could it be narcolepsy since you aren't sleeping well at night?  Doesn't seem like high blood pressure would cause you to black out for such a long period of time?!  That is truly troublesome.  I hope you will stay on the doctors until they find the cause.

I can sympathize with you on the bug bites!  Does your head itch as well?  Mine does.  Will itch uncontrollably in other places as well!  I have to get up and take a half a  Xanax so I can relax and not focus on the itching and get back to sleep.  And, why do we never itch like this during daylight hours?

You are very much in my thoughts and prayers.  Please keep us updated.  Be careful!
