Hi all,
Every night I do a good night email for my friends, which happen to all be from this site. It's just a fun little thing I've been doing, and they seem to enjoy it, so I thought I'd share one with everyone. I've been pretty stressed lately so I stopped the Good Night Email for a couple of weeks and last night brought it back, I thought I'd share tonight with you as the information is important and may help you or someone you know. I hope you enjoy it. Michele
It’s Back, by Popular Demand! The Good Night Email!
I know, I know it’s about time for its return. It will probably be shorter for a bit just because of all the stress I’m under right now. :0) I’ll see what I can do to at least give you all some sleepy dust and an attempt at a little humor every night. We’ll see how it goes.
Hi, I'm not going to bed yet, its way early, but at least I’m on time, I try to get this out by 8pm for all of you who wimp out early on me. :0) I know what you’re thinking, Wow, it’s back, it’s been so long! :0) I hope you all enjoy this, I guess I’m still a bit angry, so this may come off sounding like another rant. LOL Anyway, it is time once again for me to say goodnight, and to bestow my sleep tip of the night, and dole out my "Magic Sleepy Dust" So here goes:
Some of you may be thinking of getting a Sleep Study sometime in the future, as most of you have figured out not all sleep labs are created equal. We have all heard about the deplorable sleep lab my hubby was working for, I won’t go there. LOL Anyway if you are being referred for a sleep study by your doctor do your homework. The doctor may have a sleep lab he prefers to use, ask why, unfortunately some doctors have financial agreements with some sleep labs, and they may even own part of it. Ask your doctor if the sleep lab is accredited, this can be tricky, some sleep labs are very happy to tell you they are JCAHO accredited, this has nothing to do with sleep. JCAHO stands for the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations it is an accreditation, and means they are following medical standards, which is great, but does not mean that you will be getting the best in Sleep Studies. You want to find a lab that is accredited by the AASM which stands for the American Association of Sleep Medicine, this means they should be using the proper equipment, doing the proper set up, have the proper doctors reading the study and be scoring the studies correctly, that is what you want. If you have Medicare and you have your sleep study done by an independent lab, or one that is not part of a hospital, according to Medicare you are expected to have a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist in order for them to pay the lab for your study, be sure you get one, and if you don’t let Medicare know. It’s a form of fraud. You are a consumer even with medical procedures, be a smart shopper, and be sure you are getting your money’s worth, you’ll sleep better, trust me. :0)
All of you get your 7-8 hours of sleep, sleep well, have sweet dreams, and may you wake refreshed. These are Michele H, RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist)'s Orders. My "Magic Sleepy Dust" tonight goes to Yvonne, because I like her best tonight! LOL :0) I will as every night send a little “Magic Sleepy Dust” to the rest of you, and I'll send some to Evan, Adrianna, and of course to Linda's husband so Linda can sleep well. By the way Linda, did you get some storms today, or just rain? I’m still very stressed and not quite focused, I apologize, but I still feel like its good information, I hope you all agree. Good Night all.
Michele
