<font face="Calibri"> Hey did anyone catch the CBS report about the new Gardisil Vaccine? The information they keep giving out (they being Merck, the manufacturer) is that it is safe, but there have been like 28 deaths it said in the on air report after the vaccine, numerous illnesses, triple the number of ER visits after Gardisil injections then with similar vaccines. The vaccination literature sent out by Merck states that the Gardisil vaccine when given and the girl became pregnant; the girl was 3 times more likely to have a baby with a birth defect. No research has been done on how long a girl needs to wait before becoming pregnant after the injections, they want women to just report if it happens and what the results of the pregnancy were. Our girls are supposed to be Guinea Pigs? That's wrong. Now despite all the adverse effects of the vaccine, they want to begin giving the injections to boys too. The FDA says the drug is safe, but this is the same FDA that said chemicals in Plastic are safe after paying people with vested financial interest in plastics to do the research. The same FDA that let a peanut plant go unchecked until 500 became sick and 8 died. The same FDA that does not require food plants to report to them when lab results show a problem, and the same FDA thinking of Banning a 50 year old pain killer, because someone can misuse it. I'm not saying all vaccines are bad, I'm just saying until we know they are safe, why are we paying for them with our hard earned money and our children’s lives?</font>

There is likely still a lot to be learned about the ultimate benefits and risks of this relatively new vaccine. Since the test subjects are young, it will be decades before a large group of them reaches the age at which women typically get cervical cancer. Which means it may be a long time before we know the vaccine's true real world effectiveness when it comes to preventing cervical cancer. In the meantime, public health officials say they will closely monitor any emerging side effect trends. Hopefully, this vaccine will prove to be the lifesaver everyone would like for it to be.
My oldest daughter received the Gardacil vaccine with no problems. My second daughter, age 14 and very healthy, received her second dose on June 11, 2008. She complained of a very sore arm for about five days, and a horrible headache starting about June 22nd. The next day, she vomited twice and her headache did not go away. On June 30th, 19 days after the second dose, she had a horrible seizure. CAT scan, blood work, and spinal tap were all normal. Five days after that, she had another horrible seizure, resulting in a broken nose. She was placed on anti-seizure medication and we are now awaiting an appointment for an EEG with a neurologist. I have read many similar reports since researching this. There has to be a connection. Why won’t the medical community admit there’s enough evidence to at least consider a link to this vaccine and these horrible side effects?

If you research Gardasil, you will find there are many more complaints other than just pain at the injection site. I too work in healthcare and am the mother of a 15 year old who lost the use of her legs for 7 hours after her second dose of Gardasil and for 10 days after her third. After 4 normal MRI''s, 1 normal CT scan, 1 normal spinal tap, two hospitals, many doctors, she has been titled a "medical mystery." I am very open minded that Gardasil may not have caused her paralysis, but, you will never convince me that it didn''t have something to do with it. It was the only thing she did different. Those who have had adverse reactions SHOULD report them. It is the only way we can help prevent these reactions from happening to other children. I pray it does prevent cervical cancer. But, I made the wrong choice by getting my daughter vaccinated. Being in healthcare, I should have known better. This vaccination may not be horrible, but it is too new. WAY TOO NEW. I will pray for "Amanda" and I am one person who says "what if?" God bless all of you who are trying to decide. RESEARCH and then make your decision.

I just wanted to point out that this vaccine is only for four types when there are over a hundred different types of HPV. This is just a money gimic that is dangerous.
I believe it starts with girls having sex at an early age,and I have heard that also.I was one of those young girls.I had sex at 14yrs old and my son at 15yrs of age.I got the genital warts but was native and did not have the money or knowledge to go to the doctors.At the age of 20 I missed my period,so I had to go to the doctors.I was pregnant and also had stage 4 cancer.There were no signs.I had to abort the baby and have a hysterectomy or I would have died. I wish these girls would take having sex more seriously.

Wow this is crazy my mom made me have the vaccination and my stepmom said it left you infertile. Well i'm pregnant now so i'm now supposed to tell them if something happens to my baby. What's up with that I can't believe I got that shot.
yeah i am in australia and just saw the show about the hpv vaccine. I was APPAULED that they only allowed the antivaccine activist speak for a brief moment and even the young girl that was so terribly effected, was in my opinion made to feel as though her beliefs that the vaccine did it was ridiculous. Its pretty obvious the vaccine did cause it - considering it happened immediately afte it and she had NEVER had seisures prior. I think its absolutely disgusting that they keep on pushing this vaccine when its clearly NOT safe. I also wonder how much they got paid for the advertising for gardisal......???
Um I just want to say that I had the Gardasil shots and....I'M fine...I think something to keep in mind is that EVERYONE reacts to shots differently, the seizures your daughter had may or may not have been caused by Gardasil. I went to the site and the side effects of the shots are :
So I think its safe to saw that yes the soreness in her arm, her headache and vomiting were probably caused by the shot.
I also don't understand how they could possible give them to boy because Gardasil is for prevention of:
So since boys don't have a cervix...or a vagina they can't get them. They could very well come out with a vaccine like Gardasil for boys which could prevent testicular cancer or something along those lines but they wouldn't start giving boys Gargasil shots. It just wouldn't do anything.
It really bothers me when people won't let their daughters get the shot because they believe that it will just 'encourage' them to have sex. But that's not whats its for. The vaccination has nothing to do with sex. It helps prevent cervical cancer, and last time I checked, you don't get cervical cancer from having sex.

I'm glad you are fine, and I think most girls are and that is good, but the birth defects caused by the vaccine are real, even the manufacturer admits that, and admits there could be problems and complications years down the road we don't yet know of. Cervical cancer at least like 70% of it is caused by sex, well not the sex, but the HPV that you can catch from sex ccauses cervical cancer. Boys can't get cervical cancer you are right, but they can catch and pass HPV, whic causes cervical cancer in girls. HPV is contracted by sex, just like any other STD, which means it is preventable if safe sex or best case abstinance is practiced. I don't believe kids will have sex just because they feel safe to do so because of a vaccine. My oldest daughter had a seizure after having the old DPT shot, which was found unsafe and replaced, but not until problems occured, I don't think vaccines are evil, but I do think we should have independant scientific research done to be sure they are safe before giving them to our kids, of course the makers of a drug will say they are safe, they profit from it. No one even knows how long that shot will protect for. I'm glad you are fine. I appreciate your opinion.

I have a 10 year old daughter who recently had a very bad seizure. They did a CAT scan at the E.R. and it came back normal but the E.R. Dr. had me take her back to her Pediatric Dr. to schedule an EEG. This was and is the scariest thing I have ever seen or gone through. My daughter can't remember anything about the seizure & is having some kind of short term memory loss also. She does nothing but sleep. Tomorrow is her scheduled EEG appointment. No one in my family or my husbands family has had anything like this. The only thing different that she had was the 1st & 2nd Gadasil shot. This seems crushing to me because I had her get the shot because CERVICAL CANCER runs in my side of the family. I had a HYSTERECTOMY 8 days after my 30th B-day. I never wanted my daughter to go through all the biopsies and other painful procedures I had to go through, so I thought getting the Gardasil shot would be better then going through everything I did. But I seem to have been WRONG. I hope they do some more studies on this vaccine.... These a LITTLE GIRLS who are having to go through this and it IS LIFE CHANGING!!! GOOD LUCK to ALL the GIRLS who are going through this!!!

My daughter also had the gardasil shot. After the second shot her, she had an immediate reaction. She has daily trouble with irregular heartbeats, problems with blood pressure, temperature, she can no longer have kids, she has extreme pain in her back and legs, tingling, constant brain fog, blacking out, stomache trouble, a constant period, she is depreesed, she rarely ever feels good, she has no life now, she spends most days in pain feeling bad or sleeping. Gardasil took her life!!! I dont care if there are only a few thousand that have been affected by this...and only I thnk 45 who have died according to my searches...there needs to be more testing before it is given to another girl....if you want to read more just google the words "gardasil made me sick" or go to injuryboard.com. Please if you have a neighbor, neice, friend or anyone around you who has a teenage daughter from 11 and up they are giving this shot.....tell them to research this before they get their daughters vaccinated.
