Hi all! It's that time of year again, Super Bowl Sunday!!! I thought it might be fun for everyone to tell their stories of tradition, memories, or favorite thing about Super Bowl Sunday. Go Steelers!
In my house growing up, I'm originally from New Jersey, my dad would make authentic Hoagies every year for the Super Bowl. He would start soaking the onions and lettuce in vinegar and oil days before the game, and I could never wait to be able to eat them. I recently found a place here in OKC that makes hoagies similar (not quite as good) to the ones I remember. So tomorrow we’ll be getting those.
My favorite Super Bowl memory was the year the Bears won the Super Bowl and we had the Super Bowl Shuffle and the Refrigerator Perry. That was a fun year.
The commercials are usually fun to watch, the only time during the year I will watch commercials and not another show. The kids like the Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet, and the kitty half-time show. It is cute.
My dad lives in Florida and I am course am now in Oklahoma, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching football with my dad. It’s like being at the game. He gets so into it cheering on his team as they run the ball down the field or as they tackle the other team and stop them from scoring. Yelling directions at his team or yelling for the other team to fumble. I learned to yell at the TV from the best, and even though we can’t watch together, I’ll still be yelling at the screen and knowing that halfway across the country, he’s doing the same. Even as a kid, before I understood the game, this made it fun.
I hope you all enjoy the game. I hope your team wins,.............................as long as your team is the Steelers! :0) I hope you get to enjoy all your traditions and they bring back fond memories. I hope you start new traditions with your children, but most of all I hope you enjoy the day.
Go Steelers!

Sorry Michele,I do not watch The Super Bowl but hubby will.He would of rather seen his team"The Dolphins" in it.But he will be rooting for "Cardinals"anyway.
I remember years ago(in the 80's) when I was younger I worked at Chuck E. Cheese and they would celebrate Super Bowl Sunday. They had this one big room reserved for just that purpose.Boy that brought the guys in!!! Beer and Pizza and Big giant screen T.V. Whatelse is there in life? LOL
Well I was choose to work the room, bring them whatever they needed,so they didn't have to miss a thing. It was alot of fun,and I made good tips.I did that for a few years.Thats my memory.

Sleep Tech, Hope you enjoy the super bowl! I don't like football an my husband isn't
interested either, thank god. We will play our computer game. Most of the people
at work tomorrow, if they come to work will be hung over an sleepy. I think I burnt
out on football when I was young with my dad an two brothers! Sludge
What a great Blog Michele. You cheering on with your dad. brought tears to my eyes. I have a memory that sticks out. I forget what yr it was but the Dolphins were playing . So my dad knew I liked Dolphing but not the team LOl so he went out and brought back some dolphin balloons for me. and had them floating around the living room.
Mom made some Pasta and mini sandwiches pickles dad always made sure I had my favoprite pickles. I was young and I thought this was just great . He watched it with me my parents never really liked football but knew I did and my dad made it a point to sit and watch it with me. Boy did we just have a blast yelling at the tv . Jumping around. Remember those TV bricks they used to have made of styrofoam?? We sure did get someuse out of that thing over the yrs.
I just wish my dad was here with me today to watch it. But it will be myself and Evan cheering on the Steelers. My team didnt make it but hey you have to cheer for someone right. So lets all cheer for those Steelers By the way thats who Evan said is going to win. Some one asked him in the store yesterday .Thats my boy !
Thanks Michele for bring back some really nice memories.
Hugs

Whew what a blog, I could go on and on about my traditions and support for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone in my family always wears our Steelers jerseys when they are playing. We wave our Terrible Towels and scream at plays. The city we live in is decorated in BLACK & GOLD...it's amazing how litterally the whole city is supporting the Steelers and showing the team colors.
I will end this comment with this...do you Cardinal fans honestly thnk you can take on the steelers. You "will" be stopped by the Steel Curtain. Don't be upset when Ward & Holmes make TD's followed by Parker running past you with and all you see it the dirt coming off his shoes as he runs into the end zone! Well, I hope you are ready for this game, it's going to be a blow out...!!!
LETS GO STEELERS, LETS GO!
Jeff
Okay, Michele...
This year I'm watching for the game and the commercials. Usually it's for the commercials, but I missed them last year becasue I didn't watch the game. And this year the singing is supposed to be good.
I want to eat at your house, tho.
Oh, and I am voting for the Cardinals...Sorry !! Should be a good game..
Care to wager a little "catnip" !!!!
There seems to be a lot of CATS running around this website.....meow.............purrrrrrrrr...growl !!!!!! lol
I loved both your stories about being with your Dad.You are sooooo lucky you had a Dad that wanted to be with you .Mine was around but did not want anthing thing to do with us kids.I envy you.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STEELERS
Okay Steeler fans,Your Steelers stole, er, won the superbowl. Congrats. Again. Not bitter, no. Just a long sufffering Rams fan. i was hoping Kurt would get one more ring before he retires. That was an exciting game, I must say. My sister must have been tearing her hair out. I used to spend Super Bowl Sunday with her. She's a nut. After my mom died, I lived with my sister and brother in law. he is a Dallas fan. I follow the Rams. The Rams beat Dallas to go up against Pittsburgh in the Stupid Bowl. Unfortunately The Steelers won. That was 1980. My brother in law lost his mind for a few weeks. It was pretty intense. Tonight I watched, (between my fingers) with my two boys. It was a great game. I love Footy footy football!!!!!! Goodnight all. bobbie
