You cannot hope to build a better world without improving individuals.
- Marie Curie, Nobel winning chemist
Hmm, kind of goes along with my thinking lately. Nobody can really improve somebody else, but they can encourage them along the way.
We can improve somebody else's life by encouraging them, supporting them through tough times, and sharing a laugh or two with them to make them smile again.
What we cannot do is make them change their thinking, change their ways, change the way they react and so on. We can encourage them to change, read about how to get better and so on, but ultimately, the choice is theirs.
It would be a much better world if people would improve their attitudes. It is attitudes that lead to action and actions that lead to consequences. Then we are back to attitudes again. It is a relentless cycle.
But the cycle can be a positive one or a negative one. The way you go is completely up to you. Is your glass half empty or half full? Mine used to be half empty, but I have discovered that life is much more enjoyable if the cup is half full. The amount is the same, but the outlook is much different.
Istead of looking at the world through dark, black, cloudy glasses, I see through clear lenses. See things as they really are, but don't let them get to you. See people for who they are and if they will not change, let them go and move along with your life.
I would that all the world would see through clear lenses, but that is not reality. In any case, what matters is that my cup is half full and in many cases, seems even more full.
