About Me
Hey,
My Name is Scott Christensen,
I am 20 Years old. I used to do a ton of different things, lots and lots of sports. I played basketball, baseball, raced 4 wheelers, etc. I was a pitcher and 1st baseman while playing baseball. I Could grab an 11 Foot basketball Hoop with two hands, and I would go out to the desert and race 4 wheelers.
I loved to hunt, fish, and anyting outdoors or that had to do with sports. I also love building cars and an building my 2nd Trans Am Right now!
I haven't been able to do any of that stuff due to a car accident I had September 24, 2007. I was hit by a 4 door ford truck, doing 50 + MPH and I was stopped at a light. I then hit the person that was 12 feet in front of me. I went to the hospital in an ambulance, and don't remember anything about the wreck, or from my junior or senior year in high school, except things that people have told me..
So the last 2 years have not been good to me. All I realy do now is stay home and watch movies.
I got an MRI again about 2 weeks ago so Monday July 27, 2009.
It showed that I have Mild to Moderate Disk Bulging in my L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, and S1.
My legs go numb periodically to where it is like I am paralyzed, from my knees down it is constantly "asleep" like pins and needles. I partially tore my Rotator cuff from falling down the stairs when my legs went numb..
I have been going to the pain Specialists at Nexus Pain Care here in Orem, Utah. I will be getting some steriod Injections in my back to try and help with the pain. I am constantly at a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale. It is hard to deal with, but I hide it well. I just can't do much.
I have been to a couple physical therapy Places, Done the pain Specailist thing, they are talking about a surgery on my back but don't know what to do. They can't explain it all. I just can't handle this anymore, it is really depressing, frustrating, and I want my life back.
Maybe someone can help??
I watch the show all the time, Today (August 12, 2009) I saw a back surgery where they remove a disk, and put in an implant? I dunno if that would be good for me or what?
There is a little about me!
Thanks,
Scott Christensen

Hi Scott, I read your comments about your back in your blog. You are so familiar to me. I was 20 years when I was in an accident and injured my entire spine. I worked with doctors for 2 years with a lot of medicine. I felt I lost my entire life! Then I met a neurosurgeon. What a guy! He was from China. He told me to throw all meds away and begin to swim. I joined a local swim club and swam and joined a water exercise class. I did this for years and years. I felt great!!!! This really worked. But, after having 2 children the pain returned. I continued swimming but things got worse. I went back to the same doctor and he said that I should have a partial discectomy on my lumbar spine (only 20%). I did it! It was a mistake. The leg pain would not go away but I continued to swim and exercise for 20+ years. I was able to go back to my original profession of radiographic technologist after the surgery though. But the leg pain persisted and I went to an anesthetist and had back injections for several years. This is what they think caused the present disease that I have (lumbar arachnoiditis). So, if I were you, I would definitely try the swimming and exercising and start thinking positively. The positive thinking will help you very much!!!! But NEVER agree to the epidural back injections. They are too dangerous.
I hope this helps you some. I requested to be your friend. My name is Sandie but I am listed as lotsofquestions.
Best of luck and good health to you!
HAPPY THOUGHTS.

Hey Deanna,
Thank you so much, You are so kind!!
I ask the doctors those questions in an email, and told them about myself. I saw the show today about the "implant" disks, and with doctors wanting to fuse my back, I want to see what else is out there..
I really don't want to get my back fused, so hopefully implants of the disks or whatnot would be much better!
Thank you again.
I just added you as a friend :D
