About Me

I am a 61 year old married lady that lives in MS. I have one thing that I live for and that is to make my one and only granddaughter's life better. She lives alone with her mother, my daughter in Cabot, AR (near Little Rock).  She was born 3 months premature and has cerebral palsy. Her mind is good, she just cannot walk. She is 14 now and her mother stays so depressed she cannot seem to have hope any more. I have always traveled back  and forth, 4 hour drive since she has been here and stayed 1 to 2 weeks to help but my health is starting to fail, I think from all the stress and worry.  Ashlyn is so perfect in all other ways.  Heri right side was mostly affected and she does receive botox shots in her legs and right arm and hand.  But she still cannot stand alone or roll or crawl and barely can use her right hand.  If you know anything we could do that is not to horribly expensive bc we are not wealthy people can you let me know. I have been looking into bone marrow stem cells and different options and I am just confused on all of this but she deserves a good life.  Her dad left them around 7 years ago bc of all the pressure but she still loves him so much and sees him but I feel so badly for her.  Back in the winter the shunt she had put in when she was 4 months old went bad and she had to have it  replaced and she took the worse staff infection you could get and I stayed 4 months that time with her bc it took 5 operations to correct the staff infection, but finally she came back to normal.  This was done at the Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR.  I do not know what else to say I am just looking down every avenue I can to see what I can do to help this beautiful little grandteenage baby of mine now.  Thanks for listening.  Sandy Chapman
