From a serious Auto Accident

If you are involved in a serious Auto Accident, I want to make a strong recommendation.  Have a complete MRI of your spine done.  Even if you are told that there is "no injury" and that "you probably have soft tissue damage."   If you have pain that does not improve, do not settle for any answer that will not explain the continued and increasing pain.    I waited for 4 1/2 years to finally ask for a complete MRI, and when I did I was first told I had moved during the MRI. (I did not.).  I stayed for another 1 1/2 hours 2nd MRI, and then was called the first thing the next morning to be told that the machine was not working right, and a THIRD complete MRI was needed.  Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar.  All three MRI's showed severe herniations, 3 cervical, one Thoracic, and a dual bulging herniation at the Lumbar level.

My point is - the over 40 physicians that I saw who assured me there was nothing causing my  pain, did not believe that I could be walking around and continuing work while truly being in extreme pain.  I'm not certain how I did it, but when you are your own sole support and have your parents living with you - I guess you just do!     It is only by being your own Advocate that you can get the best medical care - care for you and your family!

That's my post for today!  Treat yourself with the kindness you would your best friend!  S. Fodi

Do you believe what a Doctor tells you every time, no matter what your symptoms are?
Vote Yes -
Vote No, not all the time
Vote I pay attention to what my body says, and if the Doctor's answer is not the same, I ask more questions, to verify which is correct!

A chiropractor may help too, and they MAY be able to identify that you have problems with your back than they can take care of, so you might be able to get the MRI sooner.  Just my opinion.
