About Me
Let's see. I'm a proud grandma of a beautiful little girl and she will have a brother or sister in the spring. I'm married, have a son and wonderful daughter-in-law. Having retired from nursing, I spend time with my family, friends and doing outreach and advocacy work in the disability community. My area of specialization was mental health nursing, and that led into something that I've enjoyed more than my full-time paid work - humor therapy! I've developed some tactics of my own in conjunction with scientifically proven stress/anger reduction techniques that I have shared with thousands over the past 15 years. Age makes no difference, laughter truly is the best medicine. I'm always looking for new tips and tricks to add to my bag of bubbles, balloons, ketchup (YES), and tons of other neat stuff. I'll share if you will!
I guess one of the neat things about me is that I'm on a weight loss journey. In the past 2 1/2 years, I've lost over 120 pounds and am still a work in progress. I've done it the old-fashioned way, eat less and exercise more. What most people find hard to believe is that a person with a spinal cord injury (incomplete) who does not always have the ability to walk can make exercise a part of their daily routine. Granted, there are days when I just cannot get myself out of bed due to pain, but that doesn't mean I can't exercise. Don't mean button pushing or jumping to conclusions, but honest exercise. It really does work!
That's me in a nutshell. Oh, my greatest strength comes from my faith in God. Without Him, I would be nothing. I owe it all to Him. Prayer is my best stress-buster, pain reliever and all-purpose cure. Thank you, Lord, for listening and answering.
