Todays show was a HUGE disappointment. It is already circulating parenting message boards and forums already. Parents are shocked at the poor, outdated information given by Dr. Sears.
Rear facing is the safest way for babies and toddlers to travel. All car seat manufacturers recommend keeping the child in that position until they reach the upper weight or height limits, and the AAP recommends waiting until a MINIUMUM of 2 years and 30lbs. In some European countries, they rear face until 5 years or 55lbs. It is so much safer!
I guess it really does go to show you how uneducated doctors really are on child passenger safety. You go to them if you have a rash or a cough. If you have a question about car seat safety, you see a certified car seat technician.
BTW, my kids are 3 years (33lbs and 38.5 inches) and 22 months (19lbs and 31 inches) and both are still rear facing.
