I usually enjoy this show, but today it was insulting. Dr. Travis stated that he wanted to eat "how most people eat." I'm 64 and I've known a lot of people in my life, and I don't know ANYONE who speaks like that. He normally eats about 2400 calories in a day, and he upped it to 6,000. It only takes 3500 extra calories to gain a pound.
So where are all these people (most people, he said) who gain a pound a day? Overweight is one thing, but gaining over 365 lb. a year, every year? I don't know anyone who comes anywhere near that.
You guys should get SERIOUS about helping people. Do the math. It only takes 91 extra calories a day to gain 10 lb. in a year. THAT'S what's happening to people. Eat the hamburger if you want it, but leave the bun behind, and you've eliminated about 150 calories.
I think the show did a complete disservice to people who struggle with their weight, because it feeds the stereotype of those who are overweight as having absolutely no self control whatsoever. NOBODY eats the amount of food in a day he showed there, with onion rings, GIANT steak, huge milkshake, etc. I don't even know any adults who eat Fruit Loops for breakfast.
It was a stunt. It wasn't helpful and it was misleading.
