Melissa, that is your "Lunula". Get it- Lunar or moon. It's Latin. Anyway, it's a piece of tissue that is actually circular and it's where your nail bed, or "matrix" rests. Half of the cicular tissue is exposed and it looks like a cresent moon. It's normal and suppose to be there...haha. It's more visible on the thumb and less visible on the pinky.

I have those, always have and everyone I know has them, I think they must be normal:-)
I was referring to the white oval-like thingon the nail above the cuticle.

I believe it is just calcium build up, but I am not positive
