jsking, thanks for the warning, but at this point I've already dealt with the medication changes, going back and forth from the psychotic episodes, etc, and I've been maintained on these medications for quite awhile. It just took time for them to settle in, and once they did the symptoms disappeared with this batch of them. We;ve been changing meds for years now and this combo has been proven effective at the doses I am at, and I've been there for awhile at these doses. They havent needed to be changed in awhile now....over time the symptoms decreased to none, so we stopped manipulating doses. But thank you very much for the head's up!
I think that this is awesome. The only problem-at least that I have had, is that this combination of medications will work for a while and then your body will get used to them and then they end up not working as well as they have! I would suggest you stay on top of this and if you noticed them starting to be less effective-let your doctor know so that the dose can be increased before you start to experience full psychotic symptoms again.
Hi Deb, Thank you for answering. Medications are definitely not an issue for me anymore. I used to do what you described, and not take them as prescribed and on a regular basis. When I finally started to and I started getting better I kept up with them regularly because I didn't want to slip backwards. Now, I get very nervous if I don't take meds almost on the dot on time. I need them every 12 hours, and I'll allow myself 1/2 hour leeway to take them, but sometimes it will even stress me out because I don't want to forget to take them. I know how badly I need them. Plus, I feel like a more normal person with them in me (no hallucinations) so there is no way I would stop taking them.
Hi Melissa, I am happy to hear that you and your doctor have found the right combination of meds that work for you and that you are doing well with them. Staying on the meds of course is key. I knew someone years back who suffered with a condition that sounds very much like what you described. One of the issues she battled with however was that she really hated how the meds made her feel {or not feel as she described} and so she would tend to stop taking them periodically and the results were not good. This was of course many years ago and I'm sure the meds have changed and improved a lot since then so I am hoping this won't be an issue for you. Good luck Melissa and I hope all goes well for you from this point forward. Take care of you....Deb V
