Post Comments - Isn't it funny no one can find it

I have always had a problem with iron, but I have been on a supplment for years.  I got my iron level check last month and it is in the normal range.  I know things are better because one of the first things that start to go wrong with me is my sleep pattern.  I have had a few night where I have only slept maybe four hours, but who doesn't have times like that.    Today, I am happy because my son from L.A is visiting.  He was my second live birth, born a year or so after I loss my little girl.  I had trouble carrying him, half his placintia detached from my womb at six months.  Then when he was born, he was severly jaundice and I came close to loosing him when he was four days old.  But, he is my miracle child.  he started reading at the age of two and he was nearly a straight A student throughout school.  He got scholarships to UCLA and graduated with high honors.  The one thing he did that he is paying for dearly is he took out a couple of loans to go back to school for another couple of years. Now he sees what happens when you have to pay it back. He has a good job working at Sony Disney.  I only get to see him a couple of times a year, which I don't mind.  I just am happy and proud of him, he found himself a good woman and has been with her six years.  He is one of the many blessings in my life, besides his two brothers, that I think of whenever I feel down about my life.  He reminded my yesterday how grateful he is that me and my mom raised him with a firm hand on the backside when he did something wrong.  He said that even now, when he thinks about doing something he knows we wouldn't approve of, he reconsiders.  Most of the time he is glad he did.

So despite the bad things that has happen, I do have the good to look back on!

that is exaclty how i pass out. or fade, as you call it.   there are all sorts of ways to experiance stress and anxiety/panic attacks.    and you don't need to be feeling the stress/anxiety IN that moment when you are having an attack (pass/fade out).   you could be reacting to things that happened in your life years ago..  it's like you can old hold so many things inside.. then they just NEED to some out some day.. and this is how they come out.

I know I have passed out at the oddest times.  Then again, there are times where I am very stressed, yet nothing happens.  It's like, when I DO pass out it is when I am finally OUT of that stressed/anxious situation and just relaxing.. that is how MY body reacts to the fight or flight response to stress.   Not saying that is what you have.. but it sure seems like it.  i have had every test under the sun since i was a kid and that is what they have told me it is.   I have been passing out like this since i can remember.. i am now 38.   I know when it's going to happen and can even stop it at time if i lay back.. breath.. relax.. close my eyes.

All I can tell you is that if you have had your blood work done and have had ct's, mri's, xrays, eegs, ekgs, etc.. and it is all fine, then maybe look into anti anxiety meds or some other means of destressing.   yoga.. pillates.. etc.

but certainly be sure you are healthy otherwise.

Annie, have your doctors checked your iron? Something similar happened to my mom, and she was low on iron. It took 10 months for her doctors to figure this out, but once they did, these spells stopped.  But even if that is the answer, don't put off getting your vitamin D tested. Hope you get better soon.

Believe me when I tell you I remember how panic and anxiety attacks feel. But, these blackout, or fade outs as I call them, happen in different situations. I had one happen when me and my mom was going home from a day out.  We had had a wonderful day at the beach and was discussing what we were going to eat.  I was driving. Then I noticed that my mom's voice sounded as if she was talking low.  Then I noticed that other sounds were fading. I quickly pulled over and told mom I needed to close my eyes for a few moments.  When I woke up, mom was staring at me, worried.  She said I just went out without a sound.  I didn't move.  She said my pluse was low and my breathing shallow.  She was about to call for help on her cell phone when I came too.  I was only out about three minutes.  I assured mom that I was okay and promised her I would see a doctor about it, which I did.  It happened again when I was at my son's house.  We had just eaten dinner and I was relaxing on the chair, drinking a glass of water.  I faded.  The good thing  was that my son thought I had just fallen asleep.  I still haven't told him different because I don't know what it is, what to call it except Annie Syndrome.  I am very glad that I get the warning before I go out. If I didn't, I would no longer drive. I don't want to cause an accident.  And yes, I have had my test for D deficiency, and other vitamin and minerals. My levels are very normal.

So, I will keep doing research and praying. Maybe one day, Annie Syndrome will have a real name.

When I was vitamin D deficient, I had what were then labeled anxiety attacks. I also had a terrible feeling of weakness in my chest and a frequently racing pulse. I had a full cardio workup, and nothing was found. I couldn't exercise because it made me feel worse. After getting my vitamin D level to 60, I no longer had any anxiety attacks. I don't remember when the weakness in my chest was gone, but I no longer have it. My pulse is now consistently healthy, no longer racing. I also tended to bleed very easily. I no longer do. My vit D level is now 100 ng/ml, and I'm never going back. If you keep going back for more tests, and nothing shows up on them, definitely keep asking for more and get as many opinions as you can, but, in all of that, get a vitamin D test. I saw a doctor just after I started the vitamin D therapy because I was still having disturbing symptoms. When nothing came back on the tests that she ran, the doctor said that she had been having a difficult health issue with terrible digestion and blood in the stools. She said that she had had numerous tests and everything came back normal and that she understood my frustration well as it was happening to her, too. She said that it stands to reason that there must be something terrible wrong if you have blood in the stools, yet nothing could be found. You can see that even a doctor with all the knowledge and colleagues to rely on doesn't necessarily find answers. She was going to get her vitamin D checked. On top of it all, she has dark skin. I will check back with her and see what happened with her D level, but please, with your skin color, all the symptoms, with all the tests that have come back normal, get your D level checked. Then do yourself a really big favor and get your level up to 80 ng/ml, the level that researchers are now saying virtually eradicates the risk of breast cancer. I hope you get better.

Hmm.. I gotta tell ya.. it sounds to me like you have panic attacks- anxiety attacks.   Do you feel your emotions get out of control and you feel over whelmed?    I have had anxiety and panic attacks my whole life.  I have passed out many, many times..  my heart pounds out of my chests at times... so hard and loud I think I can hear it.    It's made me feel lightheaded and sick to my stomach.. and just weird feeling.

Not that, that is your problem.   You should certainly verify with a doctor.   and don't let them tell you NOTHING is wrong.  We know our bodies best and it's up to us to be sure the Docto is aware of all you symptoms and that something just isn't right.   Re the discharge.   not sure what to tell you there except see a gyno..  could be PID or something infection.

Even if you keep your same doctor, ask for a vitamin D blood test.  It's called a 25(OH)D test.  If you are vitamin D deficient, your doctor should know how to treat you for it.  It looks from your picture that you have dark skin.  It is extremely important for all people with dark skin to get a vitamin D test.  You are the most at risk.  Vitamin D not only supports bone, nerve, and muscle health, it protects your heart and protects against cancer, diabetes, infections, and more.  Also, if you are vit D deficient, make sure your doctor evaluates how much calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, boron, zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin K you are getting. These are all vitamin D co-factors. You can read more about it on Dr. Cannell's website, www.vitamindcouncil.org.  For tips on how to talk to your doctor about vitamin D, see my profile.  Hope you get better.

My goodness!  Thank you both for your comments!  I have thought about seeking another doctor. At the time, she was the only one that was willing to see me with my really crappy insurance.  I still feel that things will change for me, on the positive side.  And if things change for me, they will change for my family and all the people that have helped me.  I strongly believe in passing on the positive.  Thanks agin, you and the unexpected visit from my middle son, has made my day very, very bright!

This is a great post.  I agree that you need to find a new doctor.  You have awesome goals and dreams you are working on-- remember it didn't take one day to dream them, so it may take a bit of time to accomplish everything you want to do.  You WILL finish college--can you apply for scholarships in your town?  Sometimes there are so many out there people dont know of they go to no one becasue no one applies for them.  Maybe you could check the library for a list of scolarships.  Just a thought.

Melissa.
