I too enjoy giving. I like to make things creatively and then pass them on to people in need or people in pain. One of the things I do best is crochet. So I crochet slippers and hats and then give them to varoius charities to hand out the hats to the homeless and the slippers to people in shelters or hospitals who typically walk in with just the clothes on their backs. I've been doing this for 2 years now and I enjoy it immensely. On top of that, it is helping to get rid of my HUGE yarn stash of about 14 bins of yarn...my mom has almost twice that much and doesn't use it :) Sometimes giving is the best gift you can give yourself.
Dr. Jim, your family & Jay McGraw & his family and Dr. Travis, Dr. O and Dr. Lisa and y'all's colleagues do so many things for others that it is inspirational. The Doctors show you are referring to brought tears to my eyes. When child put head on present and arm around Dr. Travis I got tears in my eyes.
My dad briefly volunteered his time in Radiology (after his heart attack) at Scottish Rite in Dallas... I was thinking at Shriners yet I don't guess same thing. Dad worked about ten years as Radiology Assistant at VA Hospital while living there before his heart attack. It hurt dad so much to see children hurting so badly he only worked at Scottish Rite briefly in his 50's. It takes special people who are able to help these children and THANK GOD there are those who can.
I'm under the weather now yet, hopefully, I'm feeling good enough Christmas Day to drive a pickup full of things to donate at a Community Christmas dinner in my home town. Radio Flyer Wagon etc. Years ago a teen asked me to take her and her disabled dad and mother to the community Christmas dinner at Norman High School in my home town. It was 2 degrees and they didn't have a car. I did and food GREAT and a wonderful time. Lo and behold they still have Christmas Dinner at Norman High School in my home town Christmas Day.
