I asked my obgyn about this at my last visit. She said that if you have always had normal pap tests that every 2 years is fine. I am 40 and have been getting them every year since I was 19, I have never had any issues, and there is also a new test out that they just started doing this year, it can tell them if it is possible for you to get certain cancers in the next 5 years, my test came back fine, so I will go back in 2 years.
I asked as well about mamograms, and was told every year no exeptions.
I hope that the government knows breast cancer is very common today, and early detection is very important.
From all I have heard on the news you can still go yearly. and as usucal for mamograms, too. the insurances will still cover it. they are just SUGGESTING it's not as necessary. I would not stop going.. i'll continue with my yearlies!!! it's better to catch things asap!
