Same reason mine wasn't acknowledged for the past 20+ years. Some docotrs see a correlation between low body temperature and low metabolism. I've been anywhere between 96.4 - 97. 5 for years. I've even asked about it....... the answer was it's no big deal. Well, it is a big deal for me.
Also, for the first time in 20+ years, my psoriasis is disappearing since I started the T3 meds. My heart burn is steadily getting less intense. I can only imagine what things will be like once I get my weight off.
I see the doctor on the 19th and have a iist of questions to ask him then based on what you've written. Thank you for that info. I'll check out the website--thanks!
I started getting a low temperature in my late 20s. Since that time, I have had the most difficulty losing weight. I'm thankful that I have been active over the years -- but I've gained about 40 pounds in the last 20 years. I work out at the gym and take exercise classes. I eat right -- we have plenty of good food in the house -- I do not buy junk food.
Recently I started getting hot flashes, and I found a great hormone doctor. I am on progesterone cream at this time. We talked about how I couldn't lose weight. She tested my thyroid, including Reverse T3 (which came back in the high range). What's happening is that my metabolism has slowed down to a crawl. I've started taking T3 meds and I've lost 3 pounds only. The dosage will be increased on my next doctors visit.
At the same time, my temperature will be monitored to help guide the T3 intervention.
Meliss, i think most people's internal body temp is 98.6. Like, if you were to cut into a body and stick a thermometer in, it would read 98.6. I am generally 97.6. So, I just don't know.

Don't know the answer to that one,
I just usually think if I'm under 100
that I am o.k. Good question.
