I also had a slipped disk in the L$-L5 region.

After surgery I was dignosed with Fibromyalgia and went though tons of test.  The nerologist said that having the truma of the disk and sugery my have caused me to have fibromyalgia.  Also I had a head injury when I was 16.  The truma of both may have caused it but can not be tested or say for fact.  What he said he does know is I have 18 out of 18 pressure points and also over 3 months constent pain and all test ( including blood, MRI, And Bone densatys and much more )

Snafusuru, That has been my observation since I started looking on this website.   I have had no contact with anyone with fibro, ever.  Your symptons are so simular and I agree doing certain things, stress, like of sleep seems to inhance problem.  I deal with it everyday and would say have had symptons since about 1991.  Thought it was my job, which was brutual on body with alot of indoor polutions to breathe in.  I sought all treatment also, with problem getting worse every year.  Then had real pain in neck and ended up having disk removed and replaced with cadavor bone, helped alittle, but problem persisted and continued to get worse.  Accually, my dr. has not said I have fibro.  I was the one asking about Lyrica, I saw on tv, and thought that lady is describing me.  So dr. said lets try, nothing else is working and it helps.

Where did you find your information about spinal problems and FM or was it just your findins from viewing others comments?  That is interesting because it isn't in the criteria I have heard of and the 18 pressure points mainly spoken of.  I never had a flare up until I had the herniated disc's in my mid 40's but did have a lot of stressors/emotional trauma just prior to first flare up of flu like symptoms, tremendous aches and muscle spasms.  It's been hanging around nearly daily to some degree ever since (years).  I have tried chiropractic, accupuncture and other meds to no avail but not Lyrica or Neurontin which are basically the same med.  Most often I feel much better when I am active and don't lay in bed whining about my pain but too much exercise or work makes it worse.  It's just hard getting that first foot out and onto the floor in the morning.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help.  Sometimes you when I'm not feeling well, I think I'm the only one in the world who has this problem.  I'm not happy that you all have this problem, but it helps to know I'm not alone and others can relate.  I am having "Lower Body" flare ups lately,  my knees, hips and ankles to be exact. A am currently taking "Mobic and Cymbalta" for pain.  When I see my doctor again, I will ask about some of the medications that you are taking.  Sometimes "Excedrine - Extra-Strength" help, but I don't want to take too much of that because it could cause stomach and liver problems.  It's always something!!

Thanks to all of you, I appreciate your suggestions and concern.

Buy the way, I had a disk at c6 and c7 removed and replaced with cadavor bone in 2007, gave some relief, and am glad I had it done, but still have problems with it.  I still deal with pain running down shoulder blades, arms, hands and neck pain on occasion

I have been on Lyrica for about 6 months.  I have not experienced any weight gain.  However, I really make point to watch weight anyway.  I adjust my eatting habits if I start to put on weight.  I have been size 8 for years from size 12.  I have noticed one common demonitator for most people with this problem and that is almost all have problems with disks  in spine .  I am new here on website, and did not know the two may be connected. However, makes since when fibromyalgia is a nerve problem and most everyone seems to have a spine problems where all you nerves run thru.  The only bad side effect I have with lyrica is kind of drunk, so have to watch when I take if have to drive, but have found it to be worth taking to help with pain management.  I had nothing at all to help me before, I just delt with it.

Hi you two.  I am also diagnosed with firbromyalgia and herniated discs in neck and upper back.  I take Lortab and Tizanidine.  I was curious about the Lyrica.  I heard you gain a lot of weight on the stuff.  What symptoms have you experienced besides dizziness and is that on going?

I have been in body pain for years, with it getting worse last 3.  I am now on Lyrica which has help me alot.  I feel like I have the flu sometimes. I have sore spots all over my body including my head with burning around the base of my skull. Dr. could not find cause of problem. All test are fine.  I did research on fibromyalgia, which is nerves sending out signals you are in pain when you are not,  from your brain.  Years ago they thought it was a mental problem, because Drs. could not find a problem.  Lyricia is my relief, but not total, it also makes me light headed.

Hi Cgaudioso,

I have it too and experience what you describe. I take Neurontin daily for it. But still have those awful flareups everyone now and then. But I do think it helps soom. Stress will cause a flare up and it causes a lot of things too.

This isn't much but I do hope it helps,

Cindy
