Post Comments - Bad Back Problems, Anyone wanna Talk??

Scott~ I hope you are having a good day.  I saw on one of your posts you are using chiropractic treatment for your back. Just a word of caution for you, with bulging discs, sometimes chiropractors can make things worse.   I'm not saying that  chiropractors are bad, infact they can be quite beneficial in the healing process in concert with the rest of your medical team. However if (and I'm not saying this applies to your chiropractor) the doctor isn't exactly spot on perfect on every manipulation there is a chance of adding to the disc issues you are experiencing.

I'm only posting this because I have personal experience that I hope no one else has to experience.  The chiropractor I use is fantastic, but he has a team working with him. All but one of his team are top notch, one was not quite as good. After an adjustment with that Dr. I was in more pain than when I had come in and ended up having to have an appt with one of the other Dr.'s for xrays and more therapy to try and ease the pain. They were able to mostly undo the spasm & issues that were caused, and I refused to see that Dr. ever again.

I am actually getting ready to try some accupuncture to see if that helps with my issues.  Is that an option you have explored? With where I'm at in my treatment, I'm starting to explore the eastern medicine treaments as a way to further help ease my pain without medication.

I hope that your doctors are able to figure out ways to help you get to where you want to be healing wise.

Thank you to everyone that has read this and is still responding!

You guys are all so awesome! I hope everyone is doing well.

I go in for 8 more steriod injections on tuesday. The last set helped for about 4 days.

I wish it would have helped more, but this has been the only thing to help a little. I think the

bulging disks are getting worse haha everytime I take a deep breath i get an extremely sharp pain

in my back like a knife is stabbing me, then I get those crazy burning shooting pains down both my legs..

It sucks, but its life. Just gotta move forward as much as I can...

If anyone needs anything, feel free to comment or email me and we can talk..

Thanks again to you all,

Scott~ Best wishes to you!  I know exactly what you are going through because I'm there myself.  All you can do is keep your positive attitude and keep going one day at a time. Also get 2nd, 3rd, and as many opinions as you need to feel comfortable with what you are being told (even on good news if you have doubts).

My back pain came out of no where.  It got to the point I needed a series of spinal epidurals.  But unlike you I have no clue what is causeing my pain.

It started in my lower back and has spread to my right hip.  I also have pain in my neck and shoulders.

My dad was having back pain for over 2 years and during an MRI they found that his sciatic nerve was being pinched which was causing him to have severe back pain and pain in his legs, the doctors sent him in for surgery where they removed one of his discs and now he is no longer in as much pain. He went from not being able to do much to playing baseball again. Have they looked at the nerves that run doen your back because that could be causing some of your pain and the numbness in your legs?

Tonyamj,

I'm sorry to hear all that. THis stuff is all horrible. It is also hard finding a good attitude towards life when you

are going through all this stuff.. I Kept telling myself that it'll all be over someday, I just dont see it happening

anytime soon. Me being 20 and having all of this pain, I know that I will ALWAYS have pain in my back no

matter what they do. I am getting some steroid injections to see if that'll help, but The docs still want to do a

fusion in my back with all my disks bulging. Some of the doctors are confused and said with only the mild to

moderate disk bulging I am having in my L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and S1 that I should not be having my legs going

completely numb like I am paralyzed. It happens peiodically, and one time it lasted for 3 weeks, sometimes

for 2-3 days, hours, or just a few minutes. It is really weird. The pain In horrific. I can't stand it, but I also hide

it very well. I'm a person that doesn't like people to see that I am in pain. I have gotten really good at

handling it all. But I Still have those days where i can't stand it, and I just have a complete and major break

down... When that happens, everyone needs to run away haha it gets bad.. That does happen offen because

look at us? ha who wouldn't have a break down, right??

Good luck with all you are dealing with, you are in my prayers.. Stay Strong :)

Hi,

I to am in the same position.  I have been dealing with this unreal back pain that I have been having for the past two years.  It really started seven years ago when I started having sharp pain in my lower back and my back feeling so weak that I went to the doctor and found out that I had bulging disc in my lower back.  So the pain progressed over the next 5 years to the point that I had to have a micro discectomy surgery.  I could not even feel my left foot and I was going to the emergency room every day for pain shots.  The pain was also running down my hips and legs..

After the surgery things got worse. I was left with a 3cm. disc fragment that is lodged in my S1 nerve root.   Now it has been two years since and the pain is so bad when I wake up in the mornings that I have to have my husband get me out of bed EVERY DAY.  It seems that during the night my hips set up like concrete and I can not move at all.  The pain at this point is UNBEARABLE.  It takes about 45 min. after I take my pain meds in the mornings so I can move and stop crying.  It is that bad.

Now the new Nero doctor says that I need a fusion, but at my age (37) he said I would have to have more surgery's after.  What does one do.  I want my like back so bad but I don't see that happening at all.  I need help so bad but I am getting no where fast.  This unreal pain never goes away.

Best of luck to us both............

Hey thanks,

I try to have a good attitude, But I do have complete and total breakdowns.. It gets hard, especially after two years of this and also being so young.

It is life though and I cannot change what happened. Thanks again for the support!! You guys are all awesome. I am very glad that I joined the community here :)

Thanks

ScottC

Oh yeah, its no fun at all.

I do so much trying to get better, but having my legs go numb periodically is horrible. I do physical therapy, chiropractor, pain management, etc.

None of that is helping with either the pain or the numbness. So they are talking about a surgery and I really don't want them to fuse my back...

Thanks for the support :)
