Just wanted to let everyone know that she is 2 1/2 months old now, and the acne is completely gone! Her face is back to being smooth and soft! Thanks for all the advice. I washed her face 2 times a day with just water, and used baby wash before bed. It dried out and went away.
It's normal and will go away. My baby cousin was born in February and after a little while she started getting baby acne all over her face. It actually got onto her chest. My aunt took her to the doctor and he said you can get a medication for the acne on the chest but can't use it on the face. She didn't end up buying the medicine, but the acne disappeared. She's five months old now, and her face is clear. =)
My baby has the same thing, I took her to the doctor today and they gave me cortizone cream to put on, but there is really nothing you can do, I would not use soap on the face, they told me just water as soap or lotion can make it worse!
It's normal and will disappear eventually. You can use a mild soap like Aveeno, or just water on her face. Don't apply lotions/oils. Make certain not to use any harsh laundry detergent for her towels, wash cloths, clothes, etc. She's adorable. Congratulations.
It is baby acne. Just wash your baby's face at normal bath time and don't scrub. You can buy some Baby Eczema cream to put on the baby's face. That's the ONLY thing I recommend putting on the acne and you can find it in the Baby aisle close to the diaper rash cream and stuff like that.
Never put anything on a Baby unless it is approved by that babys Dr.!!! Have you talked to the Ped. about what to do? What it could be? Asking advice from friends or family could have devistating results when it comes to a baby. I think it's best that you contact your Ped. and have them give you the best advice. :)
I think you are doing the right thing, this is very common in infants, all 3 of my girls had this when they were first born. I think you are right not to put anything on it, just keep her clean and it will probably go away on it's own. You might make sure it is not the baby wash you are using, you may want to try just using a damp washcloth for a few days and see if there is any difference, just in case she is sensitive to somthing in the soap you are using. One of my daughters was very sensitive as a baby, we couldn't use wet wipes, we had to use a certain brand of diapers, dreft laundry detergent, and Cetaphyl soap on her. Even baby soaps have fragrences and dyes that can cause irritation. It is not bothering her and will probably go away on it's own, it sounds like your instincts are good. :0) Keep us posted.
