Post Comments - Need to be motivated

Dear Beryl, Congratulations on seeing your only child graduate high school.  I have a 17 year old who just graduated too.  I think what you need to get you going is balance.  If you set a goal, do something for the house, balance it by doing something for you. Try to do one thing a day that at the end of the day you look back and sigh and say, Woo, glad I got that done.  have lunch outside.  Put your feet up, have a glass of Iced Tea, whatever makes you happy, but set a time limit.  I have the summer off and I haven't been motivated lately either, but I am going to take everyone's advice and take it one day at a time.  good luck.  Bobbie

I believe that some times we need more.  What have you been doing for yourself lately?  I am a big believer in lists.  A goal dates.  This done by this time.  Things I want.  Things I need.  Dreams yet to be realized.  You may just need a little more positive in your everyday.  Good luck.

I can appreciate what you're saying.  I'm also in the school system and I find myself in the same boat with you.  Mentally I make a list of all the things I'd like to accomplish over the summer and then I find the summer is over and I haven't mastered much around the house.  In my case, I can't get my mind away from work.  I spend the time reading professional journals, researching on the internet or attending summer trainings.

This summer, I decided I would try to accomplish one thing a day.  The first day, I cleaned my closet and donated over 100 pcs of clothing that spanned over 20 years!  That felt great!  The next day, I cleaned the refrigerator and tossed almost everything in it.  I was in a purging mood!! Now we only purchase what we're going to eat for the next couple of days.  Also, I've read 3 novels for pleasure, which is unheard of for me.  It's been a great feeling of accomplishment thus far.  Then we went on vacation and now I've got to get back to working on my goals.  If you're having a hard time getting started, I would recommend to perhaps start with small projects.  Get plastic tubs or boxes and label them yard sale / donate /keep, and purge! Little by little.

Take time to enjoy the time off because before you know it, we'll be back at school wishing we had done what we'll be too exhausted on the weekends!!  Let me know if you get one thing on your list done by next week.  Enjoy accomplishing your goal!
