Deathwish, all I am saying is that Leslie WAS born this way.  She did not choose to live as a woman trapped in the body of a man.  In her mind, heart and soul, she has ALWAYS been a woman.  In the past if someone was gay, bi, bi-curious, etc., it was kept quiet.  Yesterday I was at graduation rehearsal and there were openly gay and lesbian students.  I wanted to yell Halleluiah, because I think it is time people realize THIS IS NOT A CHOICE.  People are born this way, just like I was born with blue eyes.  It is part of who they are.  I feel I can speak on this subject because two of my brothers in law are gay.  Have you heard of Matthew Sheppard?  He was a beautiful, young, gay man with a loving family.  He was beaten and tied to a fence and died.  Solely because he was gay.  The men who killed him picked him up in a gay bar.  My best friend in H.S. was born female, but she was totally a male.  I lost touch with her but I hope she had the surgery.  Everyone deserves to be happy.  Bobbie

Why do you fight the facts because you don't understand them. Many of us don't understand why maybe one day they will. I have read they think they have found the gene responsible for making us this way just like many defects from birth have been. You seem so angry all the time take a breath and start enjoying life.

i believe Deathwish has missed the point.  Being born male and never feeling "right" will wear on you every day.  I had a friend who was considered gay, but she was born feeling like a boy.  No one would choose the abuse heaped on a person who "society" deems different. This reminds me of a poem I read about Asperger's syndrome.  You get on the plane to go to paris (or wherever) and you wind up in Spain.  It is still a beautiful place to visit, but not what you were expecting.  that is a good analogy for transgendered people.  They love Spain, but they have to see Paris.  It isn't a question of if,it is a question of when.  Just my humble (COUGH, COUGH) opinion.  Good night all.  bobbie

Dear Leslie, first I'd like to say Kudos to you.  You are doing something that I consider to be very brave.  My best friend in high school was in the same situation.  She was born with female parts but a male heart and soul.  I believe we all have a chance to teach someone something in this lifetime.  If it is done properly, everyone grows.  You are a beautiful woman who has had a long road.  If the drs. don't ever discuss this subject, at least we all will have learned something from you.  You have a chance to educate everyone and break through the ignorance.  You were fortunate to have the support from your children. The fact that you are here and putting up pictures, etc, is going to open doors and windows for others in your position.  Look ar Sonny and Cher's child, Chaz.  He grew up in the spotlight with knowledge that he would never be happy until the day he has the surgery to "complete" him.  I really admire you and i wish you well.  Keep blogging.  the navy blue dress is most flattering, you must invest in some underpinnings.  bobbie

I think you are absolutely beautiful the way you are.  Male, Female and Transexual are ALL EQUAL and beautiful.

You have no issues with the way you look.  If your seeking other information, I hope the doctors can assist you.

Hi Leslie!!!  I just wanted to welcome you to the site!  We are happy to have you here with us.

Deathwish, I think you are being a bit bias on "equal treatment".  The Doctors have shown MANY shows for the sole purpose of issues regarding cosmetic surgery for vanity... NOT a medical condition that need to be corrected by the surgeries.  They did those surgeries for those people because they understand that your MENTAL health is just as important as physical... So by saying it's ok for a woman to sit on the panel of The Doctors show and speak about all her vanity issues, then I think it's quite fair to say that someone with valid issues, such as Leslie, should have that same opportunity.  If you truly believe in equality, you fully understand it has nothing to do with race, gender, age or social status.

I hope so too. Educating ones mind to be open is the answer to world peace.

Sometimes I think people think I can rub off on them.

He may have been but I do. I'm just trying to correct a defect same as they do for any other defects. Its like saying you must  become a different race, gender or color of your eyes or hair. My life is all down hill because of my age I'm trying to help the ones that are young so they don't have to go through all the hell I did. It was a very different world in the early 50's to late 60's.
