Thanks...said just in time....going to the store tomorrow and wasn't sure what to get. I usually get 1/2 regular and 1/2 probiotic but I think I will go back on all probiotic again.
I just realized that you was a R.D.! So Yes, I'm sure you've heard about it. I just took the pill form because it's faster acting than probiotic food. I think you have to eat the probiotic food for apprx 2 weeks before the good bacteria starts to "take hold". I bought something called "Colon Health". I found it in the same section as the "heart burn" meds. There was 30 pills in it, so I took all of them. I've never taken them on a regular basis though.
Yes, I've heard of c.diff---it's not a good thing to have (understatement). I also at times have lived on 3 10-day rounds of Augmentin for sinus infections. I'll keep this in mind. Thanks for the info. I never want c.diff--have learned about it and studied it briefly, worked in hospital settings with it and it is so contagious only certain people are allowed in the room. I didn't realize ie Augmentin could do that potentially.
Melissa, can't say I saw an improvement, but my "stomach" didn't get all out of whack from taking the antibiotic. The antibiotic that I was taking was Augmentin. From what I've heard, this antibiotic is notorious for messing up people's stomach and even causing "C.diff" toxicity. Ever heard of that? It's a bacteria that can invade the GI system when our normal bacteria is down. Some antibiotics kill the good bacteria but has no effect on certain bacteria like C.diff. C.diff can cause serious problems if our natural bacteria isn't there to "stand gaurd" so to speak. I just took it to prevent problems, and it appeared to have worked.
Post Comments - Yogurt
I tried the Yo Plus+ yogurt, and have to say it is really good....am going to try it for awhile I think.

Yes, there are enough positive studies, that we are actually supplying this to our patients on their meal trays.

Did it make a difference--the probiotic pills when on antibiotics.
