Kristine94;I bet your parents are just as proud of you but maybe don't say it,or don't know how to say it.But I will tell you I am proud of you for going to school and getting the good grades and doing your best.I am sure you will make a fine Doctor one day.I work with highschool kids and the good ones out way the bad.
My, that is a positive attitude towards teens. Mostly, people regard teens as disruptive, disrespectful "big babies." I would know; I'm a teen. My parents don't have nearly the same perspective as you, and I'm the best student in my class! Keep up that positive attitude and I'm sure he'll be a great adult with that same attitude. I bet he's grateful to you. ;)
Beryld it sounds like maybe someone else is not sure about your son. And you are so right we all need to be proud and our love our children at any age. We have to grow with them. When they were 5 they liked us to read to them and then they wanted to be left alone and didn't need us to read to them and so on as they grow. Be proud he graduated. Is he going to college?? Not all children go to college some do votex or skill schools. When children gradguate they need to find their own nic in life and we just need to be there for them. Please if we can help just ask,if you just need support we are here for that to.
Be proud that you survived the teen years. You almost sound like you have doubts and questions. Don't. Let things happen naturally, enjoy him and enjoy watching him blossom into an adult. Love between parents and their children are unconditional. Take each day as it comes when and if those uncertain days come, deal with them at that time but don't look for them.
Dear Beryl, I have a graduating senior as well. You sound like you have a question. My son is brilliant. off the charts smart. I know because all the testing we put him through proves it. Put him through? Yes, because , even though it was obvious he is smart, my son was diagnosed with autism. He is high functioning. He has trouble with socialization, paying attention, getting things done. He is currently taking College level French and has an a+ average. He is also taking college algebra and AP Bio. Raising kids is the hardest, most rewarding job you will ever have. I have two boys. Thomas, 17 and John, 14. There were no instruction manuals. If there were, they probably would have looked like IKES directions. Impossible to read. Hey, if your son is a walking, talking, functional adult, you can be proud. You have done your job. Hold your head up and be proud.
