Hi Dr. Sears!

I am so glad to hear that everything is well!  I was praying for a good outcome, and it looks like God delivered! :)

Sincerely,

Sally

P.S.  I couldn't find you on facebook with the username: Jim20Sears.

Hi Dr. Sears,

So glad to hear your eye exam was OK.  I saw the show but haven't had time to tell you that!  After cradling the phone on my shoulder, I also lost sight in a big spot on one eye for 2 and 1/2 weeks!  They did a doppler of my neck and discovered a natural narrowing of the carotid artery.  The ultrasound tech theorized that I got a blood pool which rushed up my face, after I lifted my head up.  I've had migraines every month, for years, but now I know that caused the problem.  My opthamologist doubted that narrowing would cause the blind spot; but if I keep my head straight up on the phone, I don't get the migraines or spots anymore- -  unless I wake up after sleeping with my head cocked to one side.  I've been about 7 years completely migraine free since that doppler.  I'm sure they probably checked your carotid artery too, but in case this helps you I send my story along.

Thanks for all your good information!  My kids are grown, but I hang on your every word for my grandchildren (3 of them)!

If you have a chance, please post the safe recycling codes for food storage.  You said it on the show, and I knew I should have noted it at that time.  I couldn't find it on the archives.

Hi Dr. Sears,

I have similar symptoms as yours and have spent the last 7 months trying to find answers.  I have peripheral vision loss in the left eye, lower left quadrant, so much so, if I were sitting in the passenger seat of my car, looking straight ahead, I could see the trees pass by on the right side of the car, but not see my husband driving in the seat to the left of me.  I have to turn my head to see anything on the left.

I have stage 4 cancer, diagnosed Feb 08 and this vision loss presented in the summer of 08, I can't exactly say when it happened because it is periperal vision and you don't always notice it (if that makes sense).  My brother is a pharmacist and he researched my drugs but nothing there.  I've had CTs and MRIs, been to a neurologist and an opthamologist twice, visual field tests.  I've exhausted every avenue close to me.  My next step is to get a referral to an opthamologist who specializes in oncology, which would be in Toronto, and I live in Newfoundland.

My concern and worry is that this is happening at the same time as my cancer.  Is it just a coincidence?  I know it has to be optic nerve because only one eye is involved, and because it's periperal vision.

Dr. Sears,

I love watching you on the show!  You are so genuinely interested and compassionate about your topics!

It was refreshing to read your blog and see you see kids away from the office or after hours.  There are still a Few Food Men!

I am so glad to hear your scan proved to be nothing too serious!  You have been in my prayers.  It is so agonizing to have a brain scan and wonder for the days prior what they will find!

Dr Jim I was so relieved to see the show saying you were going to be OK.I was sooo worried about you.

Now I am extra worried and scard about myself, about a year ago I had flashes like lightening and I did see a Dr and he said to come back in about a year to see if it healed up. I still get a flash once in a while, so I guess it isn't all healed yet.

I go to see a Dr at the end of April about a thing on my face, so after that I will pick up the nerve to go see about my eyes. Thanks for the program, it is great, and helpfull. Eunice

howcome

Glad the news was good, but if I were you I would see a retinologist as they specialize in all the quirks that go with your problem; who knows maybe it can be corrected.

Now what I really want to know is why they always use you as their guenea pig?
