I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Regarding the unemployment issue. I unfortunately had to find for mine as well when I was fired from a Credit Union. My number one recommendation is to get a termination letter from the employer indicating why he was fired and any performance issues or praises. Contact the old owners and ask if they could write a letter commending his performance on the job. You need to make a file for all the unemployment stuff because if you have to fight, you will be getting a lot of paperwork. Secondly, if and when you get a response and it says that he has been denied, write a detailed letter of everything that has happened since the new owners took over. Third, go to the unemployment website and research how the cases that are similiar to your husband were over turned and the claimant (husband) won.
I hope you can feel the hugs coming your way. You recently stood up and wrote an amazing blog on what people should be doing to get a better night's sleep. with the state of our country, no one is sleeping well and everyone is stressing out. Is it possible you could write a column or a blog and get paid for it? The key to success is finding a need and filling it. too many people are turning to medication to help them sleep. I think you could make some money and help some people out. Let us know what happens. And yes, I understand the difference in getting school lunch or home made. All of the things you are going through now will make you stronger. Just stay close and keep your little nest safe. Best wishes. Love, B
Sunnie, and Harley, Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I guess only time will tell how things will turn out, right now I feel like I took a punch to the gut, and like I am wondering around in the dark, I just don't know which way to go. I don't know how I would get through all of this without all of your support.
Harley, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation, I hope everything works out for you in the end as well. I'm so sorry the system is so broken and good people go without, while con artists and people who know how to play the system get rich. I hope your situation improves very soon.
Extra prayers are coming your way. Is there any chance hubby could apply to the school system for a job there? I know in our state they will take anyone with a college education, no matter the degree, and allow them 2 or 3 years to obtain a teaching degree while teaching during that time. With a Masters he shouldn't have a lot of problems unless there is a hiring freeze. Unfortunately unless you have a good amount of savings, he may have to give up his further education for his doctorate after the end of this semester for a little while and continue it later. Please don't make yourself more ill by working too hard.
Kids are resiliant. Mine went through a similar period with reduced rate lunches (way reduced), and we even had a church deliver us a Thanksgiving turkey. That was when my hubby was out of work, I did have work but we were trying to sell one house, and already bought another. Two mortgages!!! We almost lost everything.
There is a bright side to all this, but unfortunately you can't see it yet. The shock is still too fresh. Wait 'till you get your fight back, and you will get it back, both of you. I'm truly sorry he got the shaft like that. He didn't deserve it, and neither do you.
Thank You, SpryLiLady, Yvonne, and Lisabeth your prayers and support really mean a lot to me. It's all very scarey, I don't know what we will do. Grad School is expensive, medical costs are expensive, it's all kinda terrifying. I feel I've been coping pretty well for the most part, I feel pretty positive at moments, but I have my moments when I feel like a child learning to ride a bike and just realized Dad let go. Will I ride off happily into the sunset, or will I fall. The scariest part is it's not just me I have to worry about, I have 3 children too. It's hard to tell them right now that they have to pack their lunches, they can't buy today even though it's pizza, we can't buy books at the School book fair (Something we've done every year) and having to explain to their friends parents that they can come to the birthday party, but we can't afford a gift. I know that those sound like little things, but it's hard to see the disappointment in your childs eyes. I realize there are people in this world with much less than us, and I'm greatful for what I have, I am scared though.
anyways Michele so sorry to hear about what you are going through and the road ahead of you . Just remeber what I sent you via email today !! Im serious about it , Anytime you need to vent im here for you

OMG, Girlfriend! I feel your pain and frustration. I was married for 34 years and basically was
a stay-at-home Mom. My ex was physically and mentally abusive but I felt I had no way out.
I finally did and was living on my alimony. He died last July, just 30 days before my Father. I now
have no income, an elderly Mother to care for, Social Security is denying me Spousal Benefits because
they say my anxiety condition (which I'm on medication for), migraines, (which I'm on injections for), IBS,
and hearing loss are not "severe" enough to keep me from working. The "crock" os I can file for benefits
in October without having to prove disability! Makes you wonder about our system, huh? My thoughts
and prayers are with you and your family!!
