I didnt realize you were alergic to latex !!ME too how exciting is that > I wear a resiperator mask. ( scott got it from work it's his though he didnt steal it lol ) But they have a new kind of paint out now. I dont think it has latex in it. they sell it at The Home Depot.
I cant even eat food that has been handled by people who wear the latex gloves.I start wheezing right away and out comes the epi pen .OH JOY >then the ER not fun. We have to ask or call the restaurant before we evens go or sit down. to eat if they use latex ,vinyl or nitrile gloves while preparing the food.like salad or such.anything to be safe.
Hi Michelle, I'm afraid I don't know much about that new paint so can't help with your question, but I do hope that it turns out that you are able to use it safely to paint your bedroom. Take care of you. Deb
My husband works as a general foreman for a paint company. The job that he is on right now uses only low voc paints, the job is an environmental friendly job. I think Sherwin Williams sells low voc, Benajamin Moore does, and I also found this web site, http://www.ecospaints.com/ it's not here in the US, but maybe you can get some shipped over here. I know the low voc paints are a little more pricer than normal paints, but its kinda worth it since you are so allergic.
Thanks Yvonne, I didn't realize that your husband was a painter, I could have just emailed you! I'm pretty sure it is the latex, I get welps on my skin if I get paint on me, I'm allergic for sure to latex, I hope I'm not allergic to ammonia too, but I guess anything is possible. The doctor thinks it is the latex that causes the problem, but your husband probably knows more about paint then the doctor does. Well if it is the ammonia, or the latex is there a chance that the new less fume stuff would be better? Thanks for your help.
Michele;Mike is a profession painter, and he say the low fumes are better. But he says it is more likely to be the ammonia they put into the paint than the latex itself if it is the fumes that bother you.But he said you need to ask your doctor to be on the safe side.
